Chapter 18 - Dense Fog

Six days...Six days, Nine hours and Forty seven minutes. Forty eight minute, forty nine.What is wrong with me? I haven't seen her since..I..Since I lost my s**t,since I lost he..Jesus get a grip.Where is she? Why hasn't she come back to work yet?She was supposed to be back two days ago,what if something happened to her?Would she pick up the phone if I called? I start to dial her number but then I hang up...Because I'm scared she won't pick up.I texted her for 3 days but she didn't reply,I stood outside her building unable to take a step towards the door.Why? Because I think I know I've f*ed up and can't fix it this time.

I sit at my desk tuning out my assistant Alexa's voice as she begins to go over my meetings for today when I see her.I get up so abruptly that Alexa steps back in fear. I make my way to the door and I see a glimps of her turn and go into her office quickly, shutting the door behind her without even looking back.Her scent is still faint in the air and I try to take as much of her in as I stare at her door hoping she'll open it.Should I call her into my office?No.. I take a deep breath and walk towards her office, my feet feel as if I'm walking in tar as each step feels heavier than the last.

I knock on the door and my hand feels like a ten pound weight, but she doesn't answer as if she knew who it was."Ms.Vega, I need to speak to you".I wait in silence I feel my anger rising, I knock as hard as i can.Still not a sound from her side of the door,standing there a moment I can feel people's eyes on me and feel my discomfort rise.I lower my head, take a deep hushed breath"Via, ...please let me in".

I close my eyes and clench my jaw "Come in"Her voice is hollow and stern, almost unrecognizable.I walk in and slowly shut the door behind me she doesn't look at me and I can tell it's intentional."Via I..I I'm sor.." She clears her throat "Please address me as Ms.Vega in the office".Why is she doing this, just look at me please Jesus.I feel my body tense as her warm vanilla scent invades my mind.

"Mr.Reigns you said you needed to speak to me?"She was still avoiding my stare."Jesus Via please just f*****g look at me,..Please".And I could feel all the air being drained from my lungs.I could feel them coming down but I just didn't give a s**t anymore.I wanted her, I needed her how could she not see that.Her emerald eyes looked back at me but I was too ashamed of what I had done to her.I could still see traces of where I hit her and I know she could never forgive me.

She just sits there in silence unable to move, before she can react I move towards the door and stop myself from leaving.I press my head against the door"I missed you,I missed you every f*cking day Via.I missed your laugh,you scent, the way you taste, I miss the way you look at me.I miss your warmth Via.I know I don't get the right to miss you anymore, But f*ck Via I...I love you Via.Olivia I love you and I'm so f*cking sorry,and I pray that one day you'll look at me again like before."I take a harp exhale, walk out and shut the door behind me.I can't look back at her,because I'm afraid of what she'd say.

I tell Alexa to hold all my calls I need a f*cking drink.I walk in office when I see f*cking Blake sitting accross my desk.I clench my jaw "Now is not the time Blake" I pour myself a drink and feel the burning sensation instantly, I decide to pour myself another when I see he doesn't take the hint and leave.He turns to face me "Vodka before 11AM? Stressful day Reigns?"He chuckles and glances at his watch."You know what I'll join you,do you have any Bourbon?" I pour some Bourbon in two glasses to the rim and have a seat.

I take a swig and enjoy the burn more than I should .."This had better be good Blake,what do you want?"He takes a sip and places the glass on the desk."You know something about you and Ms.Vega, seemed a little off to me.."I try to control myself and take a deep breath "Me and Ms.Vega? I have no idea what you're talking about Blake or what you're trying to imply, But stop now before you regret it"

He takes another swig and let's out a small hiss"Hey we're just having a friendly conversation.But I did find it a little odd that you were at an employee's apartment, and in that apartment there's a photo of you with the same employee." I give him a small condescending smile"One might ask why you were in the same employee's apartment in the first place, Ms.Vega and I have a strict employer- employee relationship nothing more.Someone might ask what is the exact the nature of your relationship with said employee Blake." I take in the last of the bourbon and let it slide down my throat.

He smiles and c***s his head to the side "If you're so worried about the nature of my relationship, why don't you ask her yourself?And your relationship is strictly employer/employee? You sure you wanna stand by that statement?"He pulls out a file and puts it on my desk, I exhale and open it.I quickly glance at it's content and then look up to see a stupid look on his face.

"I took the liberty of having one of my assistants do a little digging.Tell me if you're relationship is strictly professional why are there bank records and financial records that show large sums of money dating back eleven years transfered to Ms.Vega?"

I quickly compose myself "You have no idea what this is, keep your mouth shut.Tell me does Olivia know you went looking into her past?Digging around her f*cking bank records?Didn't think so.So take your file, keep your mouth shut and get the f*ck out of my office"

I stand up and throw the file at him.He sits there a moment and just smiles"I don't know what is going on between you and her but if I find out you put your hands on her and then tried to pay her off I.."I can feel all my anger rising I push past my desk and grab him by the collar "You got alot of nerve, your family knows all about b**ting women and paying people off don't they?"I see all the color drain from his face."If you still want your shares in this company I suggest you keep your mouth shut and stop your digging when it concerns Olivia Vega"

He looks me in the eye and chuckles "Tell me how sexy does that tattoo look on her back? And the way she moan right whe.."I just snapped and I just punched him in the god damned face,I'm about to punch him again when the door opens and her eyes meet mine.Wide emeralds staring back at me and everything melts away.
