Chapter 1: The Arrival
L.A known for its beaches, entertainment, amusements and the people around the city, also known as "The city of Angels" or as some will call it the l"aid-back land".Amongst the city's diverse crowd was Zara Vega a stunning talented, independent world travel writer, with an emotional wall built around her heart due to her past experiences in life and a taste for adventure and longing for something more. The best writers L.A has to offer. At 28, she was a striking woman with a fiery spirit which reflected in the sharpness of her features. Her caramel- brown skin glowed under the golden hues of the setting sun. She takes pride in her work and carried herself with so much confidence. Living her best life, but lately she felt like something was missing and began feeling suffocated with the familiarity and superficial charms around her , she needed to get inspiration to complete her book , then she decided to go to a resort in Hawaii to get the inspiration she needed and as well some peace and quiet. Days passed, as she prepared for her trip, she was excited that she might get the chance to finish her book and yet unsure of what she might encounter during her trip. The seaplane’s engine sputtered to halt, the smell of Hawaiian breeze swept across her face and silence of tropics surrounded her, broken only by the gentle lapping of waves against the shore. The beautiful island of oahu as the locals would call it "the gathering place" stretched out before her. known for its turquoise ocean blue waters lapping against white sand beaches with tropical rain forest and waterfalls. As she disembarked from the seaplane, she could already feel the energy of the place, humming beneath her skin like slow-burning fuse. A male attendant wearing a blue floral shirt approached her, putting a Lei on her neck which also refers to a “flower garland” and taking her belongs with a smile so welcoming. Zara barely noticed,as she was so fixated on the hula dancers, she watched as they danced gracefully and seem like they didn't care about anything else just harnessing the energy around them. She had traveled the world for her work, writing about places and people most could only dream of, but this place, this was something different. There was something in the air here, something intoxicating. “Ms. Vega,” the attendant said calling her attention pulling her back from her thoughts. “Welcome to Waikiki Beach Resort. We hope your stay will be unforgettable.” Zara gave him a tight-lipped smile, nodding her thanks. She doubted her stay would be memorable for anything more than long, uninterrupted hours of writing she planned to dedicate to her latest project. She was here to finish her book, not indulge in idle distractions. Yet as she followed the attendant down a winding path through lush gardens, a prickling sensation crawled up her spine. It was the feeling of being watched, observed from the shadows. She told herself it was just the unfamiliar setting, the wild beauty of the island playing tricks on her senses, but when she rounded a corner and caught sight of the main resort building, a grand open-air structure that seemed to blend seamlessly into the jungle. There was a figure standing on the balcony above that made her pause. A tall, board-shouldered man, dressed in linen, he leaned against the railing. Looking out at the ocean with the carriage of someone who owned the world. His jet black hair swept backwards, with his sharp strong jawline and high cheek bones, the type of man who exuded danger with every movement. He hadn’t noticed her, or at least he hadn’t made it clear that he had. But something about him sent a chill down her spine. Her breath caught. Who is he? As if hearing her silent question, the man turned his head slowly, his gaze locking onto hers. His eyes were grey and there was an intensity in them that made her pulse quicken. For a moment, neither of them moved, but the air between them heavy with something unspoken. Then, with a smirk curling his lips, he pushed away from the railing and disappeared inside. Zara blinked, shaking herself free from the trance she had falling to moments ago. “No I didn’t come here to be distracted by some overconfident man” and plus no matter how ridiculously handsome he was. Men like him were serious trouble”, she thought to herself. And she had sworn off trouble years ago. But as she walked into her villa, the breeze carrying the scent of tropical flowers, she couldn’t quite shake the feeling that her escape from the world might not be as simple as she had planned. The island, with all its hidden corners and untold stories, was already starting to weave its spell around her. Later that evening, after unpacking and attempting to lose herself in her work, she just found herself very restless. The quiet that she had longed for now felt too oppressive, too heavy. The night had fallen quickly; the sky filled brightly twinkled stars. Outside, the resort’s lights glittered like fireflies casting long shadows across the path. She decided to outside, hoping to get some air to clear her mind and maybe some inspiration. The sounds of the night; chorus of insects and distant crash of waves filled the air as she wandered aimlessly through the resort’s winding paths. She wasn’t really sure where she was headed; she had this feeling leading her deeper into the heart of the island. Then she heard it, the low murmur of voices, accompanied by the soft clinking of glasses and the seductive melody of a guitar. Drawn by the sound, she followed it to a secluded corner of the resort, where an outdoor lounge was nestled beneath a canopy of palms. It was intimate, private and a place for secrets to be whispered in the dark. And there he was, Antonio Rivera. A 32 year old tall, with nice a body physique; broad- shoulders, chiseled abs and muscles with grey eyes. And also known for his bad boy charms and also ladies’ man was the owner of the resort. Zara froze as her eyes locked onto him again. “The man from the balcony earlier” she thought to herself. He sat at the center of a small group, slipping some sangria’s but his attention seemed to be somewhere else. As he sensed her presence, he glanced up, his grey eyes finding her across the space. The heat in his gaze was unmistakable. Zara felt her heart hammering in her chest, her feet rooted to the spot. She could sense a connection, but she didn’t fully understand what it was, but she knew one thing for certain, staying away from Antonio Rivera was not going to be easy as she hoped.
