-He was a polished man, with a polished face and a smart smile. But he was the type of man whom everyone turned to in trouble - John Louis - Down on the stones >>>>>>>>REV'S POINT OF VIEW"Promise me you will forget about leaving!" Raine hissed to me. The clump of heavy footsteps stomping on creaking wood, stopped me from answering her question aloud. I will never forget about leaving here and I will never give up hope, even though you have. Raine shuddered, her blue eyes filled with fear even though she tried her best to hide it. Her nails dug deeply into the palms of her hands. Small specks of blood formed around her fingers, "Stop it." I hissed at her. She didn't even look at me. Her body was shaking softly. How could I not try to escape, when this is what The Men done to her every time they came. I glared at the door determined to show no weakness or fear. They were not going to make me a scared little kid. I was strong. One day we will be out of here. The door creaked open softly and slowly, "Little piglets! Little childrennnn." His words seemed to drawl on at the end. A hand crept around the wood, dirty and scared skin, it seemed yellow and red in the gloaming shadows, "Let meee come innnn." He sang. Raine's eyes widened in horror as a single black steel cap boot stepped into the doorway, and the finally a Man peered his ugly scarred face through the gap. His eyes always seemed black but were a dark midnight blue. His face was a sickly cheese yellow colour full of red slashed down scars. If you looked carefully, you could see the veins which always raised to his skin and pulsed when he was angry. Raine called him Scar, I called him a t**t. He wore his a grubby green comrade outfit which never left his skin. It was speckled and stained with dried in blood. The soft smell of rotten fish drifted to my nostrils. I almost gagged on the stinging scent. Scar stood in the doorway holding a metal bat in his dry cracked hands swinging gently side to side, trying to scar us. He had no hair instead a very red sunburned bald scalp glistened in the dark. Hope you get skin cancer you ugly git. "What you smirking about boy?" He spat flashing two very yellow and black rotting away teeth. "Did you run out of sun tan lotion?" I asked innocently. Scar seemed a little shocked at my comment. Didn't any of the kids fight back anymore? "You askinnnn for a beatinnnn boy?" He stomped forwards into the room and raised the bat. I held my nerve and didn't shrink away from him. I stared into those black, blue, beady eyes, as the bat hovered in mid-air for long seconds before a small voice pipped up in the gloom, "He didn't mean anything Sir. He was only worried about the sun burn Sir." Raine stumbled up and stood in the way. Get out of the way you stupid girl. Scar stared at Raine, studying her face slowly, always so slowly, "Is that true boy?" He asked still looking at Raine, looking at her with a dirty expression which made my skin crawl. Stupid girl. "Eh, yeah. Sir, that's true. Sir." I swallowed my pride "I'm sorry. Sir." I hated calling him Sir. I hated the way he looked at Raine, like she belonged to him. I hated every about him, period, "You're a lucky boy, you're lucky you got a smart ass chick like her." He placed his dirty hand on Raine's shoulder. I stiffened. Get off her. Get your shitty hand off her. Scar stared at me his eyes glinting with humour. I'd heard the rumors, I knew what he'd done to some of the other girls. How he had taken them back to his room in the dead of night. I'd heard some of the screams which echoed in the passage ways. Raine glared at me her eyes begging me to keep quiet, to not start this fight, "There a problem boyyyy?" Scar asked his voice deadly low. Yes. "No." I mumbled, "Pardon?" He breathed. Show no weakness. "There's no problem here. Sir." I said, Raine was a weakness. "Got that right boy." He leaned forwards till his face was inches from mine. I could see the black bits of decaying food between his teeth. Could see the wiggle of a white maggot, worming between the gaps. I could feel his warm rancid breath kissing my cheeks, "Next time you cross me boy, I'll be taking your chick out for a mid-night treat. If you know what I mean." He spat leaving a layer of spit along my skin. I shuddered and rubbed it away in haste. Scar walked out the door. "Follow me. Any problems and..." Scar swung his bat in mid-air with an evil smile. I wanted to jump up and punch him in the face, knock out his decaying teeth and tell him to shut it. Raine stared at me with her blue pleading eyes. I sighed and followed them out the door. * >>>>>Raine's P.O.VHe has to stop this. I followed Scar out the door and glanced back making sure Rev was following. His face was red as he glared at me. Better angry, than dead. Rev had to stop fighting if he carried on, Scar or one of The Men would kill him. My hands shook as I remembered Scar's grubby fingers on my shoulder. I knew what he did to girls but he hadn't done it to me. Yet. We walked bare feet along the creaking floorboards following Scar. The windows were boarded up out here, but sun still poured through the cracks. I lifted my fingers up as we passed them, letting the rays glisten down on my skin for seconds. Remembering how the sun used to kiss my face with her shine. I saw Rev staring at my fingers with an odd expression on his face. In the small specks of light his eyes shone like the leaves from a summer forest. He looked up at me and my cheeks flushed red. What the hell Raine? "Hurry up." Scar barked. Doors in the passage way were opening as we walked. Kids with Men stepped out in small groups joining the single line. The only sound in the corridor was the slamming of boots on wood and the light pads of bare feet stepping softly. I kept my head down staring at my toes. I didn't want to see the faces filled with despair and sorrow, didn't want to watch the lightly falling roll from eyes. The sound of a shout made me whip my head back up, "You gobby little git!" A Man's voice echoed from inside one of the rooms we hadn't passed yet. The line came to an abrupt halt. I almost banged into the girl who was in front of me, "I'm not scared of you!" I heard a boy shout back. The Man laughed. It was a deep rumbling sound that seemed to make the whole corridor vibrate, "Well I'd better change that hadn't I?" Every kid held their breath as The Man dragged a boy out of the room. I didn't recognize him. He had surfer blond hair which The Man grasped as he slammed him against the wall. I didn't want to see what would happen but I stared transfixed against my own will. The Man grabbed a sliver glinting blade from his his belt, "You scared now?" He spat. The boy didn't move, he glared back at The Man, "No." He said softly. Why was he fighting? It only resulted in death. I felt Rev move closer behind me, his breath tickled my neck. The Man whipped the knife under the boys c***k. A thin line of blood dripped down as the blade dug into his skin. He didn't flinch, he didn't speak, he just stood there staring at The Man, "Raine don't look." Rev breathed in my ear softly. I'd seen worse than someone have their neck slashed open. Rev wouldn't know that though. I looked back down at my toes and grabbed his hanging hand. He seemed surprised but gripped mine back. I waited for the screams that would fuel my nightmares each time I tried to sleep. The whole corridor seemed to hold their breath awaiting the same thing. No one tried to help the boy. We were too scared. No one wanted to be dead today. Then the sound of polished shoes stepping on the wooden floorboards floated down the corridor. Every head in the passage-way snapped down and looked at a Man who strolled towards us. He wore a pure white suit which gleamed in every shadow, on his wrist a silver watch shimmered. His face was cleanly shaved and slightly brown. The Man's black hair was greased back and he studied us with round blue eyes, "Let the boy go Tommy." He said his voice was gentle but dangerous. Tommy put his knife away instantly and the boy fell to the floor, "You." The Man pointed at Scar "Take him to the doctor, now." Scar jumped forwards and grabbed the boy dragging him down the corridor. The man stared at us in silence for a few seconds before speaking, "Some of you know who I am, most of you don't. I am not your enemy but I could become your friend in time. " His soft voice rang out "You will call me Mr Creeds, if I address you. You will treat me with respect and I will do the same with you. There will be no more rebels, no more fighting. Together we are going to change the world. I understand that being here is not your choice and nor do you have a say in anything that happens to you. Things are going to start changing around here. Experiments will be more intense. Know this, what you are doing here, will save the everything one day." He looked at us once more and walked away in his squeaky shinny shoes. What the hell...
