You know the small human town in neutral territory. I assume then I should come alone. That is correct I will be bringing my Mom along as technically she is still the Alpha. Well, that was strange let's get with Elroy, my beta, and see if he saw anything useful on the camera footage from last night.

I walk into my security room and see the footage from last night just getting started. I am standing behind Elroy watching the video when he starts cursing. Damm this isn't good he says. I clear my throat and look up and see Nilo's Mom suddenly appears in the cell with Nilo. Elroy jumps up quickly acting startled. I think for a werewolf this chap has a lousy sense of awareness. I reach over and pause the video. I then look at my beta and ask the same question again. He straightened in his seat and says he don't know, how did that happen, she just appeared in the locked cell.?. I can tell from his heartbeat he's lying to me. I have to go to this meeting. What do I do about this guy? You're coming with me be ready and at the car in twenty minutes. Yes, alpha. I ran up the stairs to my room and took a shower.

It was a peaceful drive to Grayrock I was thinking about what Mauro could have to talk to me about. I can say I wish that the lovely Mala would be there. We arrived at the diner and went inside. We arrived before them so got a corner booth that would be big enough for all of us to sit at.

While we waited I ordered something to drink and made sure the waitress knew that some more people would be joining us. The waitress came back with our drinks at the same time that Mauro and his Mom showed up. Following close behind was Mala.

Mala looked beautiful as always. She's wearing a lovely green shirt and black slacks. I'd say very business casual. Her brother is in his standard red flannel and jeans with a scowl on his face. I then realize he has been speaking to me as I've been undressing his little sister with my eyes. This causes Mala to blush. Their Mom, Alpha Ruby, smiles and clears her throat. I get up and offer for Mala to sit in the booth next to me. As I do I give a discreet bow to Alpha Ruby, as we're in the human territory we don't follow our regular formalities. Mauro suggests that Mala takes Elroy over to the jukebox to play some music and hands her some quarters. I frown at this and let my eye follow my beta and Mala as they walk across the fifties-style diner to the jukebox. Me Ruby and Mauro then sit at the table. Ruby still has an amused look on her face as she sees the way I look at Mala.

Mauro clears his throat, as he says to me that Elroy is possibly part of the problem we have discovered at pinewood. I brought her to be his distraction, not yours. Although it is clear you are feeling the mate pull to my sister. I think that your wolf is getting a clear scent without Nilo here to come between you. Ruby says she thinks it might be love overcoming dark magic which brings us to why we are here. So why the secret meeting? I ask.

Mauro starts by explaining how they noticed a series of events spread over the past 8 years possibly longer. They feel that a coven of dark witches has infiltrated our two packs. They suspect that Nilo's uncle on his mother's side is the leader. that would be your beta Elroy there. We don't think that they know we are on to them as of yet. We do think that your human mate may have been a witch also and don't know if she was a willing participant or not. I don't want to drudge up the past however I need to know a few things. I think about it and realize that I only felt sad about losing someone that had been in my life for 5 years. Come to think of it I was thinking that so many things happened the year I met her. I took over as Alpha after that and was still quite young. Mauro says he remembers that time and says that brings us to the next part. Did you ever see or smell her wolf? I replied yes her wolf was rather small and brown and her smell was not constant nor strong. Smash said she wasn't our true mate and I didn't listen. Okay so has any of your pack members disappeared during the last 8 years and possibly reappeared shortly thereafter. Actually my original beta was killed by a rogue about the same time that Elroy and my late mate appeared. Mauro says we don't think that was a coincidence. You see Patty and Cindy appeared around the same time. No one thought anything about Patty Cindy and Ella being friends since we were all friends.
