For twenty years, Seraphina Ashbourne lived as the kingdom's greatest embarrassment.

In a world where every werewolf shifts before adulthood, Seraphina never heard the voice of a wolf. Mocked as the Broken Wolf, rejected by her own pack, and treated as a disgrace by her father, she learned to survive a life filled with humiliation. Then fate delivers its cruelest blow. When the powerful Alpha King Kael Draven discovers that Seraphina is his destined mate, he rejects her before the entire kingdom. The rejection should have destroyed her. Instead, it awakens something ancient.

Something forbidden. Something that was buried thousands of years ago. As silver flames emerge from her body and forgotten powers begin to awaken, Seraphina uncovers a truth hidden from history itself... she is not a werewolf. She is the last descendant of the Moonborn, an extinct race erased from existence by the very goddess every werewolf worships.

Now kingdoms are falling into chaos. Ancient prophecies are coming true. A ruthless prince seeks to use her power to claim the throne. And the man who shattered her heart realizes far too late that the woman he rejected may be the key to saving the world. But when a darkness older than gods awakens, Seraphina must decide: Will she become the queen her ancestors died protecting... Or the weapon destined to destroy everything?

Chapter 1:The Kingdom's Weakest Girl
CHAPTER 1 The full moon hung high above the Kingdom of Lunaris, bathing the land in silver light. It was the most anticipated night of the year. The night of the Annual Shifting Ceremony. From every corner of the kingdom, wolves gathered in the central arena nestled at the foot of the Moonspire Mountain. Thousands filled the stone terraces that surrounded the sacred grounds. Families sat together, warriors stood proudly in uniform, and merchants closed their shops early just to witness the event. Laughter and excitement echoed through the cool evening air. For most werewolves, the ceremony represented a milestone. A beginning, a transformation and a celebration. Tonight, young wolves who had reached adulthood would finally meet the creatures sleeping inside their souls. Tonight, they would shift. Everyone looked forward to the ceremony. Everyone except Seraphina Ashbourne. Standing near the edge of the arena, Seraphina Ashbourne stared at the sea of faces surrounding the sacred grounds. Thousands of people had gathered beneath the glow of the full moon, their voices blending into a distant hum of excitement and anticipation. Yet despite the festive atmosphere, all she could hear was the frantic pounding of her own heart. Her hands trembled at her sides. Not because of the cool night breeze sweeping through the arena. Not because of the countless eyes watching from the stone terraces. But because deep down, she already knew how tonight would end. The same way it had ended before. The same way it had ended every year. With disappointment… with humiliation, and failure. A painful knot tightened in her stomach as memories flooded her mind. She remembered standing in this very arena two years ago, filled with hope and excitement like every other young wolf. She remembered believing that her wolf would finally answer her call. It never did. Last year, she had returned, convincing herself that perhaps her wolf was simply late. Again, nothing happened. And now she stood here for the third time. Twenty years old. Two years older than everyone around her. Two years beyond the age when every werewolf should have already shifted. Two years of being known throughout the kingdom as the girl without a wolf. "The Broken Wolf." The title followed her everywhere. At the market. At school. Even inside her own home. Sometimes she wondered if people had forgotten her real name entirely. The weight of those years pressed heavily against her chest. Slowly, she lowered her gaze to the ground, unable to bear looking at the crowd any longer. The smooth white stones beneath her feet blurred slightly as tears threatened to gather in her eyes. Around her, the other participants whispered excitedly among themselves. Some laughed nervously while others exchanged confident smiles. They talked about the wolves they hoped to receive and the future that awaited them after tonight. Warriors. Hunters. Guardians. Leaders. They all had futures waiting for them. Seraphina wasn't sure she even had one. She clenched her fists tightly inside the sleeves of her ceremonial robe. Maybe this year would be different. Maybe tonight would finally be the night. Maybe the Moon Goddess had not forgotten her after all. But no matter how desperately she tried to believe it, fear continued whispering inside her heart. A cruel, familiar voice she had grown accustomed to hearing. The voice that reminded her she had hoped before. And every single time, hope had betrayed her. A loud cheer erupted from the crowd. The ceremony had begun. At the center of the arena stood Alpha Rowan Ashbourne. Seraphina's father. Tall and imposing, Rowan commanded attention effortlessly. His dark hair was streaked with silver, and his powerful aura silenced thousands of spectators the moment he raised his hand. The crowd immediately quieted. "My people," Rowan announced. His deep voice echoed throughout the arena. "Tonight we gather beneath the blessing of the Moon Goddess." The crowd cheered. "Tonight we celebrate the next generation of Lunaris." More cheers followed. Seraphina forced herself to smile. She had heard this speech countless times. As Alpha, her father delivered it every year. The only difference was that this year, she was standing among the participants once again. And everyone knew why. Not because she belonged there. Because she had failed before. The humiliation alone made her want to disappear. Rowan continued speaking. "The Moon Goddess blessed our ancestors with wolves to protect our people. Tonight, those blessings shall awaken within our children." His gaze swept across the participants. For a brief moment, his eyes landed on Seraphina. The disappointment in them felt like a knife to her heart. He quickly looked away. As though she embarrassed him. As though he wished she wasn't there. Seraphina swallowed hard. She was used to it. Or at least she told herself she was. "Let the ceremony begin." The arena erupted with excitement. The first participant stepped forward. A young man named Tristan. He took his place beneath the moonlight and closed his eyes. Seconds later, his body began glowing. Gasps filled the arena. Bones shifted. Muscles expanded. Silver fur erupted across his skin. Then a magnificent gray wolf stood where the young man had been. The crowd roared. His family cried tears of joy. His friends rushed forward to congratulate him. Seraphina forced herself to clap. One after another, the participants stepped into the arena. One after another, they shifted successfully. A golden wolf. A black wolf. A silver wolf. Each transformation was met with applause and celebration. Each success felt like another reminder of her failure. As the ceremony continued, the crowd's attention slowly shifted. Toward her. Whispers began spreading through the stands. Seraphina heard them. She always did. "She's still here?" "I thought she'd stop embarrassing herself." "Twenty years old and still no wolf." "Maybe she's not a werewolf at all." "Poor Alpha Rowan." The words hurt. Even after years of hearing them. They still hurt. She looked toward the sky. The moon shone brightly above. Beautiful. Perfect. Unreachable. As a child, Seraphina used to believe the Moon Goddess watched over her. She used to pray every night. She used to imagine a powerful wolf waiting inside her. Now she wasn't so sure. Perhaps the Moon Goddess had simply forgotten her. Or worse. Perhaps she had been abandoned. A sudden silence swept through the arena. Seraphina froze. She knew what that silence meant. The ceremony coordinator looked toward her. "Seraphina Ashbourne." Her name echoed throughout the arena. Every eye turned toward her. Thousands of people. Her stomach twisted painfully. She didn't want to move. Didn't want to walk forward. Didn't want to endure this again. But she had no choice. Slowly, she stepped into the center of the arena. The moonlight bathed her in silver. The silence became overwhelming. No one cheered. No one smiled. They simply watched. Like spectators waiting for a tragedy. Seraphina stopped beneath the sacred stone. Her heart pounded violently. “Please. Just this once. Please.” She closed her eyes. The world faded away. She focused on the bond every werewolf was supposed to feel. The connection to their wolf. The presence sleeping within their soul. Every werewolf described it differently. Some said it felt like warmth. Others described it as another heartbeat. Seraphina had never felt anything. Still, she searched… desperately. “Please… Please… Please. Moon Goddess, if you're listening... Please. I don't care if my wolf is weak. I don't care if it's small. I don't care if people laugh. Just let me be normal. Just this once.” Tears gathered behind Seraphina's tightly closed eyes, burning at the corners as she fought desperately to maintain her composure. "Come on... Please..." There has to be something. She pushed past her fear and reached deeper into her soul. Deeper than she had ever gone before. She ignored the thousands of eyes watching her. Ignored the crushing pressure weighing down on her shoulders. Ignored the whispers she knew would come if she failed again. All that mattered was finding her wolf. Finding the missing piece that every other werewolf seemed to possess so effortlessly. She searched for that familiar connection everyone always described. The second heartbeat. The warm presence. The voice that lived within their souls. The loyal companion waiting to awaken beneath the light of the moon. She searched. And searched. And searched. Waiting for even the smallest response. Seconds stretched into an eternity. Her heartbeat thundered in her ears. Hope flickered weakly inside her chest. Then slowly... painfully... That hope began to fade. Because there was nothing. Nothing at all. Only silence. An endless, suffocating silence. The darkness inside her soul remained untouched. Empty, cold and lifeless. No warmth welcomed her. No hidden presence stirred awake. No wolf answered her call. It was as if she were standing before a locked door that had never existed in the first place. As if everyone else had been born with something she lacked. A gift she would never possess. Her chest tightened. Her breathing became shallow. Despair slowly seeped into her heart. No matter how desperately she reached. No matter how loudly she pleaded in her mind. No matter how many prayers she had whispered to the Moon Goddess throughout the years. Nothing answered. Nothing ever did. And deep down, a terrifying realization began to settle inside her. She was completely alone. Even within her own soul. Slowly, she opened her eyes. The moon still shone above. The sacred stone remained unchanged. Her body remained human. No wolf, no shift. Nothing. A painful silence settled across the arena. Then someone laughed. Another joined. Then another. Soon the entire arena erupted. Laughter echoed from every direction. Seraphina felt her cheeks burn. "Pathetic." "She failed again." "How embarrassing." "Poor Alpha Rowan." "I almost feel sorry for her." Children pointed openly. Several warriors shook their heads. Women whispered behind their hands. Even some of the younger participants stared at her with pity. That somehow hurt the most. She turned toward her father. For one foolish moment, she hoped he might defend her. Might tell them to stop. Might act like a father. Instead, Alpha Rowan looked away. His jaw clenched tightly. Shame filled his expression. Not for her. Because of her. The realization shattered something inside Seraphina. She wasn't his daughter tonight. She was his embarrassment. A disgrace standing beneath the moon. The laughter grew louder. Someone barked like a dog. The crowd laughed harder. Tears blurred her vision. She couldn't breathe… couldn't think. Couldn't stay there another second. Before anyone could stop her, Seraphina turned and ran. The crowd continued laughing behind her. Their voices chased her through the streets. Through the marketplace. Past the temple. Past the homes decorated for the celebration. She ran until her lungs burned. Ran until her legs ached. Ran until the kingdom disappeared behind her. Only then did she stop. The cliffs overlooked the entire valley. Far below, the lights of Lunaris glowed beneath the moon. The celebration continued. Music drifted faintly through the night. Life moved forward. As if nothing had happened. As if her humiliation were merely entertainment. Seraphina sank onto the cold grass. For a long time, she simply stared at the kingdom. Then the tears came. Not quiet tears. Not graceful tears. Heartbreaking sobs that shook her entire body. Years of pain poured out at once. Years of pretending she was fine. Years of smiling through humiliation. Years of wondering what was wrong with her. "What did I do?" she whispered. The wind carried her voice away. "What did I do wrong?" No answer came. Only silence. She hugged her knees tightly. The moonlight illuminated her tear-streaked face. For twenty years she had believed. Believed she would eventually shift. Believed her wolf was simply late. Believed the Moon Goddess had a plan. Now she wasn't sure. Maybe everyone was right. Maybe she was broken. Maybe she didn't belong. Maybe there truly was something wrong with her. A fresh wave of tears slid down her cheeks. She lifted her gaze toward the moon. The same moon every werewolf worshipped. The same moon that blessed every wolf except her. Her voice trembled. "Why?" The question echoed into the darkness. "Why me?" Nothing answered. No divine voice. No comforting warmth. No sign. Only the endless silence. For the first time in her life, a terrifying thought entered her mind. What if the Moon Goddess never intended to bless her? What if she had been abandoned from the very beginning? A cold breeze swept across the cliff. Far above, the moon continued shining. And for the first time, Seraphina Ashbourne wondered if she was truly alone in the world. Unaware that deep beneath the ancient Moon Temple... Hidden under centuries of stone and forgotten history... An ancient symbol suddenly began to glow. For the first time in five thousand years. The seal had felt her despair. And something long buried had finally started to awaken.
