“Those two have been thick as thieves since the day Angel was born. His older brothers followed in my footsteps. Abel is a public defender, and Ramido is a police officer.” Maria sipped her wine, her dark eyes sparkling. It was obvious how much she cared for her family, since she’d barely stopped talking about them.
“Angel looks much more like you than his father.” I said, and it was actually strange seeing Angel’s features stamped on his mother’s face. Both had the thickest eyelashes I’d ever seen, plus sharp, regal noses and full lips.
“It’s true, but trust me, Angel is his father’s boy. The twins were more like me, always quiet, and they studied hard in school. Angel was too smart for his own good. School bored him because he absorbed the material so quickly.” She
