A New Beginning
LYRA
“Are you excited?”
“To leave?”I asked as my best friend Mia came into my room.
“Yes” she answered and I looked at her with tears in my eyes.
“Oh, don’t cry, please, you’ll make me cry too. It’ll be alright, we’ll text and call each other every day.”she tried to make me feel better but I know I won’t be better because I’m scared. I’m scared of moving to a new city. I’m scared that nobody will like me there and that I’ll be all alone. I’m scared of never coming back here and seeing my friends.
“I can’t leave, I can’t leave you, what am I going to do, I’ll be going to a new place, a new school, I won’t know anybody.” I said as more tears appeared on my face.
“Lyra, you’re such an amazing person, you’re nice, honest, caring and you’re pretty too. Who wouldn’t like you?” She gave me a little hope that it’ll be ok, but still I was scared. I know I’m overreacting but..
I’m Lyra Collins and I’m seventeen, I have a bigger brother named Lucas and we live with our dad. My mother died when I was seven, so I don’t really remember her that much. I won’t lie to you and say that I’m not pretty because I am. I have ocean blue just like my dad’s and I have brown hair that falls perfectly on my shoulders. But that’s enough about me. At the moment I’m saying goodbye to my best friend because I’m moving as you already know. My dad and my brother Lucas are waiting me in the car.
“I’ll miss you so much, I can’t believe your going” Mia said as we were hugging. “I’ll miss you too!”
“Come on Lyra, hurry up!”Lucas yelled from the car.
“Coming!” I yelled back.
And that was goodbye to my town and friends. The hard thing is over I thought. But I wasn’t right. The hard things are yet to come.
