THE TOMB ROBBERSIn Waset one day on business for my pharaoh, I am informed by the superintendent of the Royal Necropolis in the valley beneath the shadow of Meretseger, that he believes a gang of tomb robbers is at work in the remote southern arm of the valley. Previously it had not been thought that there were any royal burials there and the Medjay, the valley police, were not in the habit of patrolling the area. But one night a guard in the main body of the valley had become curious when he thought he saw a glimmer of light half way up a cliff face and had gone off with a companion to investigate.
