Bewildered, I lift my head. The sanctuary is a ruin. I am surrounded by cold stone and shattered images. Rocks from the cliff have fallen on the roof and cracked it, letting in a thin shaft of light. Sand and dust have come with it and cover the floor. Akhenaten is behind me and his face is distorted with rage. “What are you doing?” he screams. Clumsily I rise to my feet and stare at him, struggling to come back to the present, to remember who I now am. In my heart there is a sad, sad feeling of loss... And then Akhenaten seems to go insane. He has a hammer and a chisel in his hands and he begins to hack at all the references to Amun he can find in the sanctuary.
