The Protector

Where does one begin to come up with the thought of a beast? At what point in one's life do they imagine such a thing as a man with sharp teeth that kills and drinks the blood of his fellow man? Where men turn into beasts and howl at the moon; driven by animal instincts to maul and kill anything in sight? That there is something lurking below the boat, something large enough to swallow a man and his boat whole. Women with beautiful eyes and a tail for legs who lure men in with songs of love and wealth, only to rip their faces off and eat their flesh once captured.  Were the men to come up with these thoughts sick in the mind from loss or fear? Were they introduced to grief too young and did not know of such ways to cope with their loss? Or had it been something much more worse than the common logical answer? Had man seen something they shouldn’t have...or heard its voice? Is this                             where it                                                         came from?                                                                                                                                                             The Beast?
