Chapter 40 – Showdown
Nat's ears still rang, but he heard that click. The Kinmont boy was out of ammunition. He carefully aimed his own weapon and pulled the trigger. It also clicked. Like Dale, Nat was out of ammunition. He cursed and threw the empty gun aside.
He glanced at the console. There was an indicator there, a blinking thing partially hidden by Fotis's head. Her blood had run the other direction, so the indicator was still legible. The technicians on Ellis Island had finished their work, and Spearpoint's cooling system was back online. Its new targeting parameters had been set. One more round of shots, and it would finish off Red Sky. All it needed was for someone to press the button that read “confirm.” He stepped towards the console.
