Chapter 32 – The Siege
“So did you show up here with a plan, or what?” Annora asked.
“Well,” Dale said, “I was thinking we—” A commotion cut him off, and he turned to look.
Some of the vehicles from the convoy had started up again. They started towards the fence surrounding the MASH building.
“What are they doing?” he asked.
“You'll see,” Annora said.
Dale put his hands on his hips and watched.
The vehicles closed about half the distance to the gate, and then the men in the towers began to fire at them. The lead truck was peppered with bullets, and its windshield shattered. It swerved and veered off the road, crashing into the side of a drug store.
“This is nuts,” Dale said. “It's suicide. Call them back.”
“Just wait.”
