I couldn’t control it. My shoulders shook as I cried, holding Gideon’s hand to my face. Minutes passed. I was struggling to stop the tears when a rough palm carresed my cheek. My body froze and I looked up immediately to see Gideon awake. He stared weakly at me, smiling as he wiped tears from my face with his thumb. “Why are you crying, sweetheart?” “You’re awake.” My voice shook, too soft after my outburst. I threw my hands over him, hugging him tightly. Gideon stroked my back soothingly and it was only after a few minutes that I calmed. I took in a deep breath. “Why were you crying?” Gideon asked again, concern etched over his face. He tried to sit up but I forced him back to lay down.
