Prologue
He touched me in places where I wanted him to for the days we were together. I let him be and I let myself be engulfed by the warmth that embodies him—they transferred to me—like magic, as our bodies were intertwined.
It was like it was just yesterday when we first signed the contract that led us up to this day. My wedding day.
The first rule that they imposed us was that we can’t fall for the client, because they are determined to die. Maybe it’s to protect us from the future pain when they finally leave the earth.
All we need to do was to provide them the companionship they desperately need.
However,…
…this man is the best thing that has ever happened in my life.
Though his eyes were sad, tears bedim his loving eyes. He has this warmth—a calming presence I can never comprehend how someone can posses those traits. But there is always a lingering sadness in his voice…
As I walked into the isle, slowly—under the spell of the music and the ambience of the sea, wearing the most beautiful gown one has ever seen, I saw him, I saw the most beautiful man in the world.
Though he is undeniably beautiful, his eyes were sad. I wonder what he thinks…
I heard the story about his dead girlfriend and son, but never did I wonder how he was able to withstand that pain,
Or is it because he couldn’t…he’s suicidal, I know, and he will leave soon, but I can’t help but… love him.
He met me with a nice smile when I reached the altar. However, his eyes were sad.
This should have been the wedding for him and his dead girlfriend, but here I am, standing on her place instead.
I knew he wanted to run away as he said yes, as his vows were for his dead ex, but I can’t help but be broken with his words.
Will we be able to be a loving couple just like everyone else?
If I love him, would he still want to take his own life?
