Labor of Love

*** Seven months later: "I can't believe that we've been married for seven months now."

Damon smiled and kissed me. "It's crazy, I know. Are you ready for our daughter?"

"Yes, I am, I want her here now and..." I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. 

"You okay?"

"Yeah, just another contraction." But this time, the pain intensified. 

"Jalissa... do we need to go to the hospital."

"I'm okay."

"We're going."

Damon grabbed my arm and opened the car door for me, rushing to the hospital. Each moment, the stomach pain intensified even more. "Fuck."

"We're here." 

Damon helped me inside and nurses took me to the delivery room. "You've got this baby."

After a few hours, our daughter was born. "She has your eyes." Damon said as he kissed my forehead. 

"She has your hair." 

He laughed. "What are we going to name her?"

"Bella Marie." 

"I like that." 

I was discharged from the hospital and drove home. "I'm so glad it's over with." 

Damon grabbed my hand and smiled. "I know. You did good."

I shrugged. "I tried."

"You did."

"Thanks. Say goodbye to sleep though." 

"It's okay, I've been ready." 

We got home and I put Bella in her crib, feeling absolutely exhausted. "You get some sleep, I'll change Bella's diaper if she wakes up."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. You had a long day."

"Thanks."

"Of course, wifey."

I couldn't help but blush. "I love it when you call me that."

"I know."

Damon got in bed with me and wrapped his arms around my waist. "I love you." he whispered in my ear. 

"I love you too, Damon."

I knew how bad of an idea it was to get involved with someone else's man, especially when that man happens to be your mother's ex but feelings can't be controlled. I never thought I would fall in love with Damon, but I did. Being married to him and having him as the father of our daughter is more than a dream. I hope for the best for my parents and I know that Damon is not going anywhere, nor am I.
