Chapter 04

(Aileen's POV)

“My father is going to be around so behave yourself, Aileen. Don't worry, he's going to love you.” Liam uttered and in no time the door was opened for us to step out. I took a deep breath when mine opened and stepped out of the car.

He outstretched his hand towards me, waiting for me to come take it. His gaze was so scary leaving me no other option than to walk over to his side and take his hand so we could walk in.

The hall was decorated beautifully in royal blue and white to signify Liam was royalty. As we both walked in, all eyes fell on us. People saw us as the perfect match and most people even envied us but they knew absolutely nothing of who Liam was. He was a monster.

Liam's family's seat was arranged separately and I could see his father. Alpha Derek waiting patiently for Liam. We both walked towards the Alpha, and I lowered my head to greet him,

“Father.” Liam called, but there was no response from his father as the Alpha just kept his focus on his meal.

I had always wondered why this man hated Liam so much when he had always worked so hard to gain his approval.

Was it because his first son had died years ago? Or could there be another reason behind it?

“I hope the party is to your liking ,father?” Liam questioned, but there was still no response from his father. His silence was giving me cold feets too and all I wanted was to get the hell away from here,

He dropped his fork and knife on the table, then raised his gaze at us,

“I heard Alpha Cadence Donovan is here, do well to be on his good side, Liam.” His father said and rose to his feet. He tapped his son on the shoulder before walking away and as soon as he was gone, a smile slowly crept on Liam's face. This was the first time his father would be acknowledging him.

“Sit here, Aileen, I need to go make sure everything is perfect.” Liam said and let go of my arm. I couldn't be more thankful I was letting go of this bastard because I was beginning to suffocate already.

I took my seat and stared at him till he walked away.

Just as I was busy looking around, my eyes immediately caught hold of a familiar person and I dimmed it trying to remember where I had seen this familiar face

The very moment I recalled him, I gasped out loud in shock. What the hell was he doing here and f**k, why was he looking like a damn demi god. I could feel my underpants getting wet just from thinking about that night because nothing was more epic than that.

Who the hell was this guy anyway and how could he be here? I thought he was just a call boy that day?

A loud gasp escaped my mouth when I gave it a second thought. If he was here, then it meant he knew Liam.

I took my gaze away from him, but it was already too late, his gaze had found me already.

“Aileen.” I heard Nicole's voice as she was rushing towards me. As fast as I could ever be, I rose to my feet and swiftly grabbed her arm.

“Hey, what's wrong?”

“Shut up and come with me.” I whispered to her. Once we were at a corner, I took a deep breath in and collected one glass of drink from the server walking around with a tray in his hand,

“Are you trying to put me in a deep mess? How the hell could you pay up someone Liam knew for a night with me. Look left Nicole, he's standing right there.” I said, but when Nicole c****d her head towards left, she still had a confused expression on her face

She had to really be kidding me or something. I c****d my head left and our gaze met again. This time, I could feel my heart racing so fast at the sight of him,

“It's him, Nicole, he's the one.”

Nicole traced my gaze and the moment she saw him, she gasped aloud,

“That's impossible.” She half yelled, but I covered her mouth with my palm to shush her down a bit. What if he could hear us?

“Don't f*****g tell me you walked into the wrong room, Aileen. That wasn't the guy I paid off to spend the night with you. That is Alpha Cadence Donovan, and please tell me you're mistaken. Tell me it wasn't him please.”

Alpha Cadence Donovan? Who the hell is he?

I suddenly recalled I had heard Liam's father tell Liam to be on his good side. Was he that important of a person that even Nicole was scared of him.

“What's wrong? Who's he?” I questioned because a whole lot was running through my mind at the moment. If he was someone powerful,. maybe he could help me get away from Liam and get revenge on the people who hurt me. These thoughts ravaged my mind but I couldn't tell Nicole because judging by the way she had spoken about him, he was bad news.

I always thought Liam's family wasn't scared of anyone so this was the first time.

“He's bad news, Aileen, avoid him as much as you can. Hold on here, I'll be right back.” Nicole said and I nodded my head. The first mistake she made was not telling me about him knowing that I was an extremely curious person.

I held onto my gown and began to head out of the hall.

I didn't know what, but something in my guts told me that he would trail behind me, and so I just kept on walking till I was outside. I was breathing hard now, desperately hoping to see him, but when I turned around, he wasn't behind me.

I heaved deeply in disappointment,

What the hell was I even thinking? Did I really think I would be able to escape from Liam? Just for a second, I really did think I would.

I was about to start walking back inside the hall when I heard a voice from behind me,

“Looking for me?”

I flinched in fear as I turned around and as a result of this, I lost my balance on my heels and was about to fall down, but I felt his grip on my waist,. preventing me from falling,

“How did you… that only took a second.” I widened my eyes as I said. His eyes had to be the prettiest I had ever seen in my life, but I had to focus,

“M…Mate.” He called while I was still in shock, leaving me in even more shock,

I was his mate? How the hell was that even possible? I thought Liam was my mate.

“Aileen!” Liam's voice brought me out of my trance, also snapping us out of our shocking moment and I immediately stood upright. Liam was standing right there, staring at me with so much anger in his eyes, and f**k I knew I was in a whole lot of trouble. I did not think,
