(Aileen's POV)
When I woke up the next morning, he was gone. I rolled over to his side of the bed stretching my body and when I sat upright on the bed, my face flushed crimson red thinking about last night. The room was still filled with his scent, and I inhaled it in the air, using a pillow to cover parts of my body.
It was extreme, better than I had expected and I had Nicole to thank for that.
I rubbed the tiny traces of sleep off my eyes and found my phone
Fuck! Fourteen missed calls. I had six of them from my parents while the remaining 8 were from Liam. The f*****g bastard still had the guts to call me after what he did yesterday.
I had made up my mind already,
I was cutting off the engagement no matter what.
There was no damn way I would let Liam manipulate me. He was sleeping with my foster sister and I couldn't live with that for the rest of my life.
I turned off my phone and rose to my feet after deciding that I would call Nicole once I returned home. As soon as I was done dressing up, I grabbed my purse and began to walk out of the room.
The drive back home was about 2 hours,
“I'm home.” I informed and began to walk towards the stairs, but I heard my mother's voice,
“Stop right there, Aileen. Where the hell have you been since yesterday?” She yelled from behind me but I shut my eyes for a few seconds so I could calm myself down,
I heaved deeply and turned around to face her, and once again, my blood began to boil hot just seeing Jessica standing behind her. The smile on her face didn't look like it would vanish soon. She got what wanted, she ruined my life already.
“Why? You never really cared if I got back late or if I didn't come home at all in the past, why do you care now?” I questioned fighting so hard to hold back my anger. I wasn't going to let Jessica see me weak since that was what she desperately wanted.
Before I could utter another word, mother landed a slap across my face and I winced in pain,
“Are you crazy? What the hell are you trying to do? You know how much your father needs Alpha Liam's help with his company and you want to call off the marriage? What do you think Liam would do to us? He'll cut off all connections and we'll go bankrupt. Is this how you chose to pay us for taking you in and raising you, Aileen?”
I scoffed out loud,
It was enough with the emotional blackmail already because this time, I would not fall for it.
Four years ago, they only agreed for me to be together with Liam after finding out he was the next Alpha of the pack since his brother had died mysteriously. In the beginning, they wanted me to seduce Liam's older brother Jason before he died, but it was Liam I loved. Now, all that love is gone.
“If you're so worried about Dad's company, then why don't you ask Jessica here to take my place and marry Liam instead. I'm sure that is what she has always wanted judging by the fact that she has been sleeping with my fiance in secret.”
I watched mother gasped again, and landed another slap across my face
In pain, I gently place my palm on my face to caress the pain as tears rolled down to my cheeks,
“Mom..”
“Do not call me that if you're going to insult my precious daughter, Aileen.”
The smirk on Jessica's face grew wider as she stood akimbo behind Mom. This was enough to tell me one thing,
“You knew.”
More tears rolled down when I finally realized this,
“You knew, didn't you? You knew Jessica has been sleeping with my fiance all this time and you supported her.”
“If I had the chance, I would have preferred it was her instead of you, Aileen, but that bastard Alpha Liam is so obsessed with you. What exactly do you have that she doesn't?. She's my daughter and I would do anything to see that she gets whatever she wants, even if it's your damn fiance.”
Mom took a step closer to me and rubbed my other cheek gently,
Then she let out a smile but I could see right through the pretense. She heaved,
“You will do. At least you're still our daughter. Now, you're going to be a good girl and get married to Alpha Liam, that's the only way for this family to survive. That's the only way to pay us back for raising you into a grown woman, Aileen. Your father isn't going to take this news lightly when he finds out so do what's right.”
I remained silent without taking my gaze away from her because I could feel a lump in my throat stucking the words from dashing out of my throat,
“Where's it?”
Jessica handed her a card when she questioned and she shoved it right at my face,
“You see this, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for your father and our family. Alpha Liam is throwing an extremely luxurious party tomorrow before the wedding and Alphas from other parts of the world would be here. As the family of his soon to be Luna, we've been invited and you're not going to mess this up for us else you'd be dead. Suck it up and keep living your life like you never found out any of this.”
My gaze was fixated on the card and every part of me wanted to tear it apart, but I couldn't.
She snatched it away from me before I could implement my thoughts and I heaved,
Without saying anything, I began to run upstairs, heading straight for my room. As soon as I got in, I slammed the door shut and slowly squatted down to the floor with my back leaning on the door,
My fingers were buried in my hair as I sobbed,
None of them knew what I was suffering and what I was going through, and the only person I loved, trusted, cherished so much betrayed me. I had thought I would be able to confide in Liam with my secret, but I was wrong. He was the same.
The only person I had right now was Nicole,
In a hurry, I tucked my hand into my pocket and brought out my phone. Once I turned it on, I found Nicole's number and dialed it,
“Hey Aileen, I've been calling you for ages. I was worried some handsome dude had kidn*pped you already.”
I whimpered aloud,
“Are you alright? Are you crying? Did something happen? Talk to me, Aileen.”
“I need your help, Nicole. I need your help to escape from all of this. I really can't get married to Liam, I can't.”
