In a kingdom where women are forbidden from holding scholarly roles, Elira has spent years hiding in plain sight disguising herself as a boy to work as a student translator in her small town of Veloria. But when the royal palace announces it’s seeking new language scholars, Elira knows this is her one shot at changing her fate.

Determined and daring, she enters the competition masked in secrecy and among the judges is a mysterious prince shrouded in rumors of a deadly curse , Every woman he loves... dies.

Haunted by a tragedy she believes the prince caused, the disappearance of her twin brother who mysteriously vanished after taking a position within the palace walls. She seeks not just to prove her skill but to uncover what happened even if it means standing in the lion's den.

But nothing in the palace is as it seems. Secrets are buried deep, alliances are fragile, and the truth behind the prince’s curse may be more twisted and more connected to her than she ever imagined.

THE HEIR'S CURSE
CHAPTER 1 THE MASK SHE WORE In the heart of Veloria, a small town known for its bustling markets and rich blend of languages, Elira stood before an old mirror, binding her chest with practiced hands. The coarse fabric pressed against her ribs , a familiar discomfort she had long grown used to. Her reflection stared back ,luminous jade-green eyes always glinting with curiosity, framed by thick, dark lashes, a delicate nose and full, rose-hued lips, long, wavy chestnut hair that now vanished beneath a cap. "Are you really going to do this?" her friend Mira asked from behind, her voice laced with worry. Elira nodded, adjusting the cap firmly over her head. "The palace is recruiting new translators. This is my only chance." "But Elira... you'll be going as a boy". "If they find out" "They won’t" Elira interrupted with a small smile. "I’ve been doing this for so long, no one will notice." She wasn’t just preparing for a job, this was a mission. Mira leaned against the doorway, arms folded tightly. "Just be careful. Disguises only go so far." "I will" Elira said quietly, her voice firm. --- The journey to the capital was long. Elira traveled with other students from Veloria, all hoping to earn a spot at the palace. She kept to herself, speaking only when necessary , her voice lowered a few pitches and wore loose, baggy clothes to help her blend in. She knew the risk she was taking. Translating for the palace was a prestigious role , but one forbidden to women. If she were ever found out... "No", she told herself. "Don’t even think about it." At last, they arrived. The grandeur of the palace stole her breath away. It was massive , elegant towers, golden domes, polished stone floors that gleamed like mirrors. Everything looked rich, untouchable, important. But there was no time to stand in awe. The selection process was about to begin.
