“what do you mean” I tried to lift my head but failed, I was weaker than I thought
“please calm down” The nurse came closer to me and placed my head back on the pillow

“Shhhhhhh” She placed her index finger on my lips and sat beside me “I don't think I have all the answers, but if you can calm down, I can tell you what I know” Her voice was so calm
I thought about many things, so many things could have gone wrong, my head was banging, and my chest felt very tight, I tried to steady my breathing but failed, I was thinking of too many things at the same time

“First of all my name is Judith Delera, and I'm your nurse” A small smile appeared on her lips

I sniffled, still wearing confusion on my face “Rayyan” I answered

“Judith!” A loud masculine voice interrupted
“Good morning sir” Judith got up and bowed
“And why didn't you report that she's awake, why did I have to find out myself” The man asked in a harsh tone
“I'm sorry sir, she just woke up” Judith answered still facing the ground

His voice scared me “My name is Rayyan Onisimus” I looked down too, his eyes scared me

I had two choices, I could either tell him the bitter truth of my ugly past and have them treat me like a felon, that I know deep down that I'm not

“If Benedict cares, I believe he'll find me” I whispered to myself, still trying to process my reality
Irritated by my silence “Is she deaf?” The man asked Judith
“I don't know” I sniffled, praying to the heavens that he'll buy my lie “I can't recall much”
“Is that a condition or a side effect of something?” He asked Judith
“Yes general, I think she's traumatized”
I sighed a breath of relief, I made a mental note to thank Judith
“Well, since you can't remember anything, we'll keep you here till you can recover” he looked at Judith. “She’ll recover, right?

“Well in the meantime, you'll join the other captives as slaves and make yourself useful, Judith file her report and send her to the place tomorrow, she looks strong”
“Okay general” Judith's words hadn't left her lips before the general stormed out of the ward
“Thank you, Judith! I'm grateful”
“It's fine, but I know you remember and I know it's not easy at all, but I want you to know that you're not alone, and I'm here whenever you need to talk”
I nodded “Do I have to work immediately”
“Yes, that's the way we are here, we work!” She laughed
Judith came closer and gave me a warm hug, it wasn't what I was expecting but I guess I needed it “Thank you” I whispered
“It's fine” she released her grip on me “Lemme get you food and drugs and I guess we'll run another test to ascertain you you can start work tomorrow”
I nodded, and she walked away.
Three days later:
“Make sure the floors are spotless, and hurry up because there's laundry to be done” Joan the head maid was showing me around my appointed duty, the Prince's chambers
“Don't speak unless you're spoken to, and if he has any other chore for you please oblige”
“Okay” I nodded
Joan walked away and I began mopping immediately.
It was quiet until I got to the library area and then I heard voices getting louder and louder
“I love Elsa and I'm not getting married to anyone else!”
I walked closer and I saw them, two men, but I only recognized the one whose frame was in the room, he was the one screaming
“Dad isn't going to take it easy on you and you know” The second man spoke up
“I can't! I just can't! It has to be Elsa or no one else”
“I guess you have to find someone else! Maybe a fake marriage, just someone”
“Where do I start from? Where will I find a woman that will agree to be in a fake marriage with me or will someone just walk through the door miraculously?”
I don't know how but I slipped from behind the door where I stood and fell directly in front of the door frame, in clear view to the men, one who I was certain was Prince Aden and another
They both threw weird glances at me and looked at themselves again
