Jodi is determined about finding a company that will hire a fictitious writer like her. She shared her novel's outline with a lot of social media publishing groups, and she also included her phone number so that she might be contacted if anyone was interested in reading her work. She left her laptop for a moment to go cook in the kitchen, because she was going to see her friend Alice today, who had a job to retire for her in at least two nights. She accepted the job offer so she could earn money for Jake's medication. ''Alright, Jodi. I have talked with my boss. You can start to work tonight.'' Alice said to her. Jodi suddenly smiled. She was happy about it. ''Jodi, you must do your job very well, because my boss has a special guest, alright?'' Alice went on. ''No need to worry, Alice. I will do my best. By the way, thank you for this." She hugged her friend. "Anytime, Jodi, I'll inform Jake to spend the night in my brother's room tonight, so you have nothing to worry about. " Jodi smiled and nodded. She dressed well that night. She was wearing the right clothes because the waitress had given her a job. The manager greeted her warmly at the bar and immediately showed her what to do. Because she already has experience as a waitress, the task has become easy for her. While serving the customers, she accidentally turned her attention to the oncoming man, who was muscular and looked rich. She also noticed that the man was greeted by the bar owner, making sure it was what Alice was referring to as the special guest tonight. "Miss, I've been waiting for my order for a while!" a customer called out to her. She quickly apologized to the man before heading to the kitchen to retrieve the order from the other table. She was nervous because it was her first time to be a waitress in a bar. But she needed to get rid of her worries for the sake of saving money on her brother's medicine. "Jodi, there are many customers waiting for you; please hurry," the manager said. Jodi quickly nodded and piled the wine and food onto her flat tray one by one. After placing it, she quickly returned to give the orders, but in her rush, she accidentally met and bumped into a muscular man who was not looking at what he was passing by as he was on the phone. “s**t!” the man exclaimed. And looked at his discarded clothes. "Oh no, I'm sorry sir." Jodi immediately dropped her hands on the table and quickly took the rag from her pocket to wipe the man's wet and dirty long sleeve. "You're only making it worse!" the man complained again. Jodi looked at him, and her eyes widened as she recognized him. "You..." The man rolled his eyes. "Oh, here we go, again," he said, as if he recognized her too. "Jodi, the orders are waiting—" the manager looked at Gideon, who was their special guest tonight. "Oh my God...what happened, Sir?" he asked, returning his gaze to Jodi. "Jodi, what did you do?" he asked emphatically. Because of her embarrassment, Jodi could barely speak. Even if she made excuses, she knew the manager would not listen to her. She sighed and shut her eyes. While Gideon just stared at her coldly. The manager returned his attention to Gideon, apologized, and offered to buy him a new long sleeve shirt, but Gideon refused. "No thanks, I'm done here." Gideon responded sparingly, and then left the bar carrying his suit. The frustration on the manager's face was obvious, which is why, after that incident, he sent Jodi home early along with the loud closing of the gate and yelled at the manager not to see her anymore. Annoyed, Gideon got into his car. Dante, his personal driver, was surprised that his boss returned early. "Sir, what happened? Is the event over soon?” Dante asked, clearly unaware of what his boss went through inside the bar. "Stupid girl." Gideon's reaction, ignoring Dante while removing his long sleeve inside the car. He was forced to wear a white t-shirt. Dante looked at him through the car window and noticed that Gideon didn't seem to be in a good mood, so he didn't bother about the incident at the bar. "Um Sir, where should I take you?" that was all he asked. "Go straight to the hotel," Gideon answered seriously. Dante immediately nodded and quickly started the engine of the car and left that place. Jodie got a text from Alice as she walked home to their rental apartment. "Jodie, my boss, called, and he doesn't want you to come back tomorrow night; what happened?" Alice texted. Jodie sighs and closes her eyes. She wishes she could have worked at the bar another night. But because she didn't expect that to happen, she got fired as quickly as flies. She let out a sigh. "If it wasn't for that arrogant guy! I'm really pissed at him, he brought nothing but bad luck to my life," she grumbled, raising her left hand in the air. Despite her irritation, she considered how she would pay for her brother's medication. The money she expected tonight turned to stone. Jodi nailed her phone again. She had no choice but to call her Aunt Tessa to borrow money. She knows that she can't just help her because, even though this is her mother's sister, she doesn't just consider them relatives because of her state in life. As the phone rang, she bit her lower lip. She wished her Aunt would return her call. "What's up, Jodi?" her Aunt Tessa scolded her as soon as she answered the phone. "U-Um, Aunt. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and for my unexpected call," she paused, unsure whether she should proceed with her plans. But she had to do it for her brother. "Can I borrow money from you again? I just need to—” “You just borrowed from me a week ago, Jodi. Maybe you're forgetting that I didn't even charge you for the house you rented before you and your brother moved in, and now you're going to borrow money..AGAIN." Tessa replied gruffly, not letting her finish speaking. Jodi swallowed hard, knowing that this was how her Aunt would answer. "Aunt, it's supposed to be for Jake's medicine. It's only for three more days because of the medicine that she has. I don't know where to get it anymore," she explained sadly. “Jodi, Jodi, Jodi. If I give it to you again now, we will be the poor ones. You're not going to get anything from me. Simply find another way to make money. Be practical so you and your brother don't starve." Tessa said from the other line. Jodi appears to be being stabbed in the chest gradually as a result of her own Aunt's rejection, even though she mentioned that she was doing so for her brother's medicine. "Alright, Aunt Tessa, I'm sorry for the problem again," she answered, still trying to hold her tears. Tessa did not respond to Jodi because she chose to hang up the phone right away. At that time, Jodi only shed tears because of the bitterness she was suffering now. She felt that she had no one to approach. And how about their daily expenses? How about her brother's medication? I hope what you said is true, Jake. That there is an angel coming into our lives and saving us. Even if it's not for me, even if it's just for you, for your medication. She sighed to herself as she walked alone to the side of the road. As Gideon was getting on his way to the hotel, he observed the girl walking down the street by herself. He immediately noticed it because he remembered the reason he could leave the bar early. "Dante, pull over in front of that woman," he orders. __________
