CHAPTER 12: MAY THE LAST MAN WIN.

Narl rushed into Kanaan's house after she was called by Sky. " I told you, I warned you not to go anywhere, now look at what happened" she scolded, she was pissed at Kanaan.
Unfortunately Kanaan and Sky were ambushed on their way to the seaport and escaped luckily, although Kanaan was shot, the bullet only grazed her arm leaving her with a very minor injury.
" I'm fine, this is nothing serious" Kanaan said
" It's not serious? how is being shot nothing serious? Nobody listens to me because you think I’m extra"
" Narl I am perfectly fine"
" You are fine, how are you going to wear the gown for tonight and now you looked so stressed, you look like somebody that has just gotten shot"
" Maybe that's because she got shot" spoke a neutral voice pointed out
" I know that and I'm mad about It"
" Are you really concerned about me or how I'm going to look tonight?" Narl went quiet looking at Kanaan
" You're not even concerned about my safety?"
" That's not true, I'm worried about you but then you said you were fine so I just wanted to worry about the dress… like I've been emphasizing all through today, it’s the company's anniversary and you are the head you should look flawless and you know that but now you just destroyed that. All my efforts down the drain" she said with a frown, Kanaan really didn't have the time for Narl's scolding, she needed to find out who launched the attack on her and fast.
She also needed to know if there was a snitch within her company because only a few people were aware of her going to the seaport but she knew she was trapped in Narl's web of worries.
" I'm sorry I didn't listen to you and I wasn't carefully" she apologized
" You think that's going to make me less mad about this?"
" No but I'm sorry" she apologized again
Narl took in a deep breath and stared at her friend.
" I'm sorry I only talked about the dinner, the truth is I was so scared when your Sky called me and told me you were shot" she stated, pulling her into a hug.
" And if this is just an apology so you could get me off your back and go back to looking for who shot you then you are joking, because you're going to stay right here and rest until the dinner. you understand right? Or don you want me to give a speech in your place?"
" I promise to be there and I'm not going to go back on my word" Kanaan said with a smile.

Miles was all dressed and ready, he was waiting at the entrance just as he was instructed by Narl, he had one of his best smiles on and a few minutes Kanaan's car was parked in front of the building, there was also a red carpet held for the event because a lot of celebrities sponsors and models were all invited, she got down from the car wearing a white long gown with a sparkly touch.
The gown held her body tightly, revealing her curves, the gown was sleeveless with a deep v split at the back exposing her back which she covered with a tiny fabric which also aided to cover the bullet wound she had on her left arm, her hair was put backed in a ponytail bringing out her facial features more.
Miles walked up to her and took her by the hand before leading her towards the red carpet " Good evening ma" he greeted in a whisper
" Good evening" she replied
" You look stunning" he complimented
" It always been a known fact but thank you" she said paying attention to the pictures been taking.
Milse was also looking stunning in his white suit, they proceeded towards the entrance into the hall together, where everyone cheered for them.
Miles couldn't help but feel the excitement at rush of popularity in just a brief second of having it.
This wasn't his plan though and for a moment he forgot both the his safety and that of his parents were at stake as he was being broadcasted all over the country.
" You must like this type of attention?" Kanaan spoke
" I don't think I do. I just like the feeling of the excitement. Thank you for this opportunity" he replied calmly.
" You know you'll be doing yourself a lot of good if you're hiding"
" And why's that?"
" Well just a thought" she said walking away to greet her guests.
They finally sat down at the front of everyone, Miles could see Adrian and Emily right across where he was sitting. They waved him with a big smile which he gave back.
" Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 8th anniversary of Beauty mix" the MC said, a loud applause arose from the audience
" And today we are greeted with one of our finest and only CEO of Beauty mix, let's welcome president Kanaan" he announced
Miles took her by the hand and helping her to stand before walking beside her to the stage,
" Who's that" Evan asked Sky who sat beside him as he watched everything happening
" Well that person is somebody who will be joining us very soon" Sky said with a smile
" I don't understand what do you mean?" He asked confused with his eyes on Miles
" That's a stray cat that needs to be put in line" he said with a smirk on his face
Evan still couldn't understand what Sky meant, but after giving it some thought he finally understood.
" Good evening everybody" Kanaan greeted
" Good evening" everybody echoed back
" It's actually nice to be here, to be standing in front of each and every member of the Beauty mix.
As we all know it all started with a dream of my father to become one of the best cosmetic companies all over the world and I can say from the progression… year after year, Beauty mix has finally proven that we aren't just a cosmetic company but also one of the largest brand in the whole world." She said looking straight into the crowd, she could see Narl who had a big smile plastered on her face.
" About 3 weeks ago, when we started planning for this celebration and as usual we always launch a new product on the day of our anniversary and this year is no different. We are launching a brand new products for our customers known as Kiss me collection" the crowd applause once again as the product sample was delayed on stage.
" The kiss me collection is composed of unisex friendly colours enabling anyone and everyone to make use of it. This year we also came up with a special bonus for all our consumers the first 1000 people to purchase any item from the kiss me collection, will be gifted with a 50% discount from the original price, ladies and gentlemen thank you for coming to celebrate our 8th year anniversary, to all our staff nation wide and global this wouldn't be possible without you all, thank you and I hope we see you all next year. Thank you" she added ending her speech everyone gave a round of applause as well as a standing ovation, before she came down from the stage she caught a glimpse of someone she had been looking for, for a very long time.
She came down immediately with a frown and a steady gaze as she walked straight towards him Miles turned, his eyes followed her as she did not return to the table. Sky stood up as well following behind her with her bodyguard.
She got to another table and took a seat " You have some balls showing up here" she spoke
" Really? do I? But I came to see how you're doing for myself Miss Kanaan, the world most biggest brand" he spoke picking up his drink as his eyes moved around.
" Wouldn't that be too bad of me not to be at your anniversary party?" he asked with a grin on his face
" You know I could actually blow your brains right here and right now"
" Ohhh I'm scared, how about we take that chance, you blow my brains and everybody discover what a cold-blooded murderer you are? That you see would make a good headline story tomorrow"
" You never seize to amaze me, you've been hiding all these while and now you decide to show your face, tell what do you want?"
" I came here to actually check up on you, how is the arm?" He had his eyes on her arm
" It was you!"
" Of course, the one and only. That was just a warning, I could have killed you but no."
" You're still beating around the bush Michael"
" Philip, where he? I know you have Phillip with you and I know you're trying to get words out of him by torturing him, but let me tell you, you are not going to get anything out of him. He's rather or more useless to you" Kanaan couldn't help but laugh at his words.
" The reason you are risking your life is because of Philip?"
" Yes and I want him back" he replied with a more serious expression on his face.
" Is this for real? the almighty Micheal is actually begging for the life of his brother, Yes I know he’s your brother that's why torturing him is like eating candy, it excites me more than you can imagine"
" I'm coming to get him you, just wait and see, he will be out of your hands soon"
" That would be a wonderful pleasure, for you to actually come and get your brother but I'm sorry to tell you that the only way you'll be getting him out of my house is in his corpse's bag" she said with a smile " I wish you to enjoy the rest of your party and thanks for coming you made my day" she smiled while standing up
" We shall see who gets each other first" Michael said increasing his volume.
" Son of a b***h, he knows I can't do anything to him here and that's why he came. He's such a coward" she voiced as she walked with Sky back to her table
" I want you to tail him, make sure you follow him and find out where the hell he's hiding. He couldn't have just come all the way from Australia here if he hadn't been here the whole time.
I need to know where he has been, who he has been talking to, every little detail make sure you don't lose him" she ordered before taking her sit.
