CHAPTER 4: A NEW LIFE

Miles walked down the streets carrying his backpack with his phone beside his ears, he was on the phone with his mom
" I'm so excited today is my first day at the job" he informed with a smile as he kept on walking down the street
" I can't believe you're so excited about being a waiter in a cafe" she said
" Mum it's not just the cafe, it's Beauty Mix cafe, I could get a real job inside the main building, all it takes is hard work and determination. don't you think?" he asked as he stop at the side of the traffic light waiting to cross the road ahead. His mum let out a little laughter, it was nice seeing her little boy making a move at life even after everything that had happened to them, they were in hiding but also needed to make money in order to eat and take care of their father who was injured, this was definitely his first time working ever since he was born.
He had lived with a silver spoon all his life till his father decided to make their wealth go down the drain
" I know honey, dream big my love but be careful Beauty Mix is famous for a reason, please make sure you don't get into any trouble and make sure you try to keep a low profile as possible, remember the reason why we are here in the first place" she advised
" Yes mum, I understand and I remember clearly well. I promise to behave and keep a low profile, you don't have to worry, all you need to do is look after Dad"
" Your father can look after himself, you're the one I care about"
" I'll be fine mum, I have to go now I just got to the cafe I'll call you when I'm out of work" he said
" Alright have a good first day at work" she said before hanging up on the phone and turning to her husband. She couldn't help it but feel a little suspicious of him.
Miles looked at the sign on top of the cafe and took a deep breath, before pushing the doors open, he walked in to see a young lady who was currently wiping the tables with a napkin
" Welcome to Beauty Mix cafe, we make your day beautiful" she said as soon as she saw Miles.
" Good morning" he greeted shyly with a smile
" Good morning" she answered him still staring
" I'm the new employee here" he pointed out
" Ohhh! welcome, sorry I mistook you for a consumer"
" That's alright, I'm Mile nice to meet you" he introduced with a smile
" Emily, nice to meet you too. You can drop your things over at that room. There are lockers where you can put your things, name tags are present on each locker, you should pick one without a name and by the end of the week, you’ll get your name attached to your locker" she explained
" Thank you" he greeted before working to find his locker, just as Emily said there were names attached on each locker Aiden, Claus, Andy and Emily. He opened the one without a name and started arranging his things inside, he pulled out a picture of his family and stared at it for a little while before putting it into the locker.
He knew this wasn't going to be any easy but he had to make a lot of sacrifices for his family especially with the issue of the 234 million dollars which wasn't going to pay itself, after sitting a while he got changed before moving outside to see Emily behind the counter, customers were already flooding into the cafe waiting to be served
" I was beginning to think something in the locker room had swallowed you up" Emily said immediately she saw Miles walk out of the room
" I'm sorry" he apologized with a little smile
" There's no need to apologize, you didn't do anything wrong. Go over to the tables and get their orders while I prepare them, is that alright with you?" She asked, he was new and she didn't have any idea if he had done something like this before.
" I can" he answered
" Good and don't forget to smile, the smile is what brings in the tips" she added. Despite this being his first time working he was a bit excited and nervous at the same time, all his life he has been surrounded by minds that got things done for him.
" Good morning" he greeted as he approached a table with a smile just as Emily instructed him to do.
" OMG Rocky, he's so cute" one of the girls on the table said pinching her friend who was on the phone, Miles couldn't help it but feel a little bit shy
" May I take your orders?" he proceeded to ask
" Well are you on the menu?" the other girl asked with a wink, Miles didn't actually know how he would respond to such gestures, he couldn't help but smile again. He felt a bit flattered that he was being flirted with.
" Ladies why are you flirting this early, in the morning" said a voice from behind Miles, he turned towards the direction of the voice to see a tall man standing behind him, he was fair skinned, brown eyes man with dark hair, He looked just like an idol.
" Adrian!!!" the girls screamed
" What would your orders be, as you can see his new here, so ladies don't ever try to scare him like that again" he pointed out as he placed his arm over Miles’s shoulder
" We were just having fun that's all, we'll have two americanos and a cheesecake" one of the girls said
" I want a strawberry flavoured cake" the other girl added with a smile
" Alright just wait a few minutes and your orders will be ready" Adrian added with a wink
" You don't have to blush around girls just flirt with them back, you got that?" he asked as he turned towards Miles who was lost in his beauty
" Don't you talk?" He asked again as he brought his face a little bit closer to him
" I understand now" he stuttered
" That's good, you should get used to this type of things. it happens especially when they see a handsome man, I'm Adrian by the way" he said still with his arm around Miles’s neck
" Miles" he answered with a smile
" Now I see why they flirt with you, you look so cute and innocent" Adrian said as they both walked towards the counter
" Adrian your fuckin late" Emily said and rolled her eyes
" It wasn't my fault Ems, you know how it is, getting out of the house, plus traffic was so bad as well"
" Whatever go get changed and get your ass out here" she snapped paying little attention to his excuses.
