A Yellow Whisper
I've written a story once before, a story about a little girl. Her name was Lillith. You see back when I was just a little boy. I met this girl, she was rather quite lovely. She wore short curly hair and a yellow bow a top of her head infact everything she wore was bright yellow from her sundress to her sunflower socks. Odd, I thought to myself, as I found yellow to be a very ugly colour or at least it was before i met her. She loved the colour yellow, she would go on about how much she loved it. How she saw that colour in everything... the sun, the flowers, the bees, and autumn leaves. I never understood her obsession, but I understood her. She radiated her own bright yellow. She was perfect in every way, even in her flaws and imperfections. At the time, I was 12 years old, and she was 9. When I returned home, I told my parents of this little interaction. I told them how we spoke about the colour yellow for hours, I told them about how all her clothes were yellow, I told them how we ran through the fields holding hands, I told them that I loved her and they looked at me with their adored eyed and puckered lips and said :"Awww, well aren't you adorable, but you're to young to be in love." I looked at them and asked what they meant. As they rambled on talking about love at first sight, not being real, and how you can not fall in love at such a young age, I was dazed just thinking about her. The girl who wore all yellow, her name was Lillith. The next morning, I ran out of the house, urging to see her again. Her and her bright yellow outfit. I decided to search the yellow fields I couldn't find her. I searched the park where we met, I searched the river bank, I searched the tree where the autumn leaves fell, but no matter where i searched, I couldn't find her. So I returned home with my hands dugged in my pocket. I walked into the house, and the silence was loud as my parents stood in front of me. "Are you okay, dear?" they said with a gentle breath. I told them yes when truthfully I was not, I couldn't find Lillith. As I walked with my crouched back and limpy legs to my room, I heard my parents muttering, and my mother began to cry. I looked back and watched as my father consoled her and held her. It was none of my business so i carried on. I sat, I layed, I cried, and I prayed for Lillith to come back, but I got nothing but silence. "Dinner's ready!" yelled mom. I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to the table. As I sat down, my parents' eyes fell on me with despair. The silence was so loud I could hear them swallow with unease. My mother took my hand, looked me in the eyes and whispered "We are so sorry to tell you this, but the little girl in the yellow dress her body was found yesterday, something happened to her." I shouted,"You're lying. " I jumped out my chair and ran to my room. No No No it couldn'nt have been true. Just about a week later, the news played on the television, and i caught a glimpse of the screen as I walked to the bathroom. The headline wrote '9 Year old girl found covered in blood' They went on about how her body was brutalised, how her bones were broken, he flesh was peeled and her body was left in the fields. My eyes widened and teared, It was true she was dead. However, I noticed something the report said her body was only found 2 days ago. I was certain my parents told me her body was found a week ago. Something didn't feel right, so I began to dig a little deeper. Since my parents told me about the incident, they haven't looked at me. They were more to themselves. One night, I noticed the washing machine was on, so I snuck down the stairs. I saw my parents standing outside through the window as they argued, they seem so panicked as if they did something. I went to the washing machine and reached in. My eyes widened, and my breath became shaky, and my hand quivered as I pulled out a yellow bow from the washing machine. It was Lillith's bow, but something was wrong with it. It had these red stains on it. I heard the door open, hid inside the cabinets as I watched through Key Whole in the cabinet, I noticed blood on my mothers dress."He can not know what we did." said my father as I grabbed my mothers shoulder. I froze with fear, I couldn't believe what I had just seen. My parents killed the girl I loved... As the days went on, I tried to keep myself hidden, but I knew I had to do something. Anything. The truth must come out. But I was just a kid. The police wouldn't listen to a child. So, I decided to come up with a plan of my own. I searched my room, turned it upside down, finally i found it, a tape recorder. I figured I'd get them to confess. However, I had no clue how I would go about doing it. So came the first night of finding out the truth. However, this time, I heard a crackling noise and the smell of smoke. They were burning something. I walked down the stairs, and I heard a whipser "Seth." It was long and passed my ear like wind blowing through the window. My Name is Seth. I ignored it and continued to walk down the stairs. I crawled and tip toed and made my way to the backdoor, It was wide open. I walked through the door, and there in the distance stood my parents around a campfire. I saw her dress... the bright yellow dress, it slowly ashed away as they threw more and more clothes. That was it that was the last draw. I grabbed a box board pins. I threw it on the floor by the entrance of the door and switched off the porch light. They noticed, and they rushed back to the house. My mother rushed in first she wore thin layered sandles. As she took her step the pins punctured her shoes and stuck into her foot, she slipped by the shock of the pain and slammed her head against kitchen counter, my father rushed in soon after her but was unaffected by the pins as he wore thicker shoes. He quickly bent over to see my mother "Babe are you okay!" He repeated. I panicked, so I grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed him in the pack. He gasped as he dropped my mother and fell on the kitchen cabinet... He looked at me as blood filled the floor and leaked out of his mouth. He coughed and gasped for air as he looked me in the eyes he said, "What did you do?" I stared blankly and quivered with the knife in my hand. He whispered, "We did it for you." My name is Seth Fitzgerald, I'm 23 years old and I wrote a book about the girl who wore all yellow, Her name was Lillith Sanders. Years have passed, and I haven't told anyone this story, It was probably because I was too young to realise what happened. The truth is my parents were trying to cover it all up not beacuse they killed the little girl but because their little boy brought yellow clothing covered in blood to them as he told them about the little girl who wore them. I killed Lillith Sanders, the girl who wore all yellow. However, I didn't like that she was filled with the colour red, so I removed it. "You did this to me." I can still hear her whisper.
