"Have you found her?", Colin asked as he stormed into the council room.
The council members all looked up at him.
"No but we have all the guards out looking for her"Lucius, one of the council members, answered.
"How could this have happened?", Colin asked as he walked towards the head of the table.
"We do not know but we are currently doing everything to find her", Cyrus was the one who answered this time.
"Yes and if you would excuse us we are currently busy, we will have someone inform you when we've found the Luna", Terrius said, looking at Colin with contempt.
"No", Colin said, matching his stare.
"No?", Terrius asked, taken aback.
"I'm staying right now. I want to be kept abreast with every step that's being taken", he said stubbornly.
"What gives you that right?", Terrius asked.
"I'm her betrothed, we are going to get married", Colin answered.
"But you are not married yet!", Terrius answered back.
Just then the door opened and a guard hurried in, everyone in the room turned their attention to him.
"My lords", the guard bowed.
"Have you found her?", Terrius asked immediately.
"We found this my Lord", the guard said as he approached the table, holding something wrapped in cloth. He carefully placed it on the table and unwrapped it. The entire table gasped when they saw what it was. Terrius stumbled back, wide eyed with shock. On the table was a hand, blood around the wrist which was jagged like they had been brutally torn off. What had everyone in shock however was that one of the fingers was without a doubt Danielle's signet ring.
Cyrus glanced at Colin, one eyebrow raised with question. Colin tried to hide the smile of satisfaction on his face.
"What is this?", Terrius asked once he recovered from his shock.
"We found it in the woods, my Lord. We followed the Luna's scent and found this there with a lot of blood", the guard answered timidly.
The air in the room suddenly dropped.
"Did you find anything else?", Terrius asked.
"No, my Lord"
"Keep looking and don't return until you've found something that is not just a hand!", Terrius ordered.
"Yes my Lord", the guard answered before hurriedly leaving.
The room was silent as everyone pondered on what this meant.
"Terrius...", Cyrus began but Terrius stopped him.
"Don't"
"But Terrius, we have to face reality", Cyrus continued stubbornly.
"Reality? And what reality is that?"
"That the Luna might be dead", Cyrus answered softly.
"I should have your tongue for speaking such nonsense! On what basis do you say that?! Because of a mere hand?!", Terrius exploded.
"A hand with the Luna's ring. Found in the woods, she might have been attacked by a wild beast...", Cyrus couldn't continue as Terrius charged at him.
"Keep talking and we'll see how long you last", Terrius threatened him, Cyrus gulped and said anything.
"The Luna is not dead", Terrius said, looking at all of them meaningfully.
"Fine, that may be true..", Lucius spoke.
"... but that doesn't change the fact that she is currently missing and the pack is without a leader", he added, staring back at Terrius.
"So what are you saying?", Terrius asked him.
"The pack needs a leader, we cannot let unrest spread in the pack and the absence of a leader will do just that", Lucius told him.
"Again I ask, what exactly are you saying? Because the Luna has no living relatives, we all know that. So who should be the leader?", Terrius asked him with a mocking smile.
"There's him", It was Cyrus who spoke this time, pointing at Colin.
Terrius looked at him, shocked.
"You must be crazy!", he immediately exploded.
"What? It's the only logical choice. We all know the Luna came to us to approve the passing of power to him just yesterday", Cyrus answered calmly.
"She what?", Colin muttered with a surprised expression on his face.
"Yes but after they are married!", Terrius said angrily.
"That doesn't matter if they were mated, does it?", Lucius asked.
"Were you?", he asked Colin who nodded with a stupefied expression.
"There you have it", he said as he turned to Terrius.
"You can't be serious", Terrius said with an incredulous expression.
"You- You would have this- this rogue! Be our alpha?!", Terrius asked.
"I agree with Terrius, it's preposterous", another council member said.
"But it was the Luna's wishes, would you disrespect her wishes?", Cyrus asked softly.
To this Terrius had no answer.
"I didn't ever want this. I never asked her to fight for this position for me, I never wanted the power, instead I asked her not to bother, just having her was enough...", Colin began as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"... Who would have thought-?", he sobbed as everyone in the room watched him.
"I never wanted this but if this is what Danielle wanted, I will respect her wishes", he said as he wiped his tears.
"I will take over as alpha"
"Never!", Terrius raged.
"Terrius calm down"
"No, I will not sit back and let this rogue spew such nonsense", he said.
"So you will disrespect Danielle's wishes?", Colin asked in a low tone, as he walked towards Terrius, staring at him coldly.
"If that is what it takes then so be it. But you will never be the alpha of this pack, over my dead body", Terrius answered spitefully.
The two of them stared at each other, none backing down until Colin chuckled. He stepped back and smirked at Terrius.
"If that is your wish old man, then so be it"
It happened in a flash, one moment Terrius was staring down at Colin and the next he was on the floor, blood puddling about him. The sound of the window crashing to pieces was the only indicator of what had just happened. Everyone in the room froze as they stared at Terrius' dead body on the floor. Colin's somber expression from before was now replaced with a grin as he looked at everyone in the room.
"As of now, this room is surrounded by at least ten able bodied rogue wolves..", he began as he looked each and every one of them in the eye.
"... is there anyone else who has something to say about my being alpha?", he asked them.
They all stared back at him with horror.
"I guess not", Colin said when no one said anything. He turned to look at Lucius,
"Arrange everything", and Lucius nodded.
With that Colin left the room, Cyrus behind him.
"Did you have to do that? What if this affects your transition to power?", Cyrus asked worriedly.
"That old fool was never going to let up, he would have been a problem in the future anyway, it was best to get him out of the way now", Colin told him.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine", Colin told him and Cyrus nodded.
"If you say so", before leaving him.
Colin proceeded to his room only to find someone inside waiting for him.
"Rollo", Colin called and the man turned around.
"Colin", the man called back and hugged him with a huge smile, Colin hugged him back.
"You did it. You said you would and you did", Rollo said when they disentangled.
"And this is just the beginning. Our next target is the Red Moon pack", Colin told him.
"Damien Bloodmoon has been the hunter for so long but now we will make him the hunted", Colin said with a murderous tone.
