TEN I drove into the village and parked in front of The Coffee Shoppe. The neon OPEN sign glowed unnaturally in the foggy night. Five minutes ago, it had been a clear and beautiful night. Now fog clouded everything. I got out of the car and went into The Coffee Shoppe. Glanced around. Two other people were there. One with her back to me. The other person was a twenty-something with ear-buds on while she read a book. She glanced up at me, but I could tell she didn’t see me.
