A Cheque In The Mail

CHAPTER 2

“So what's the purpose of this meeting?”I asked, pulling out the note from the envelope I received this morning and slid it towards them, but seeing that I was on the other end and they were far away.

The CEO and I locked eyes silently daring each other to move, I refused to look away. From my peripheral I saw the other guy roll his eyes and pull the CEO up making me smile happily

“what the f**k man, I almost won” He said making me scoff and roll my eyes

“By the way, what are your names?”

“Won't you like to know?” Blue eyes asked

“That's why I asked” I said in a tone making grey eyes chuckle

“I'm Caspian Grey” Blue eyes said

“Ansel Russo” Grey eyes said, I could notice had had an accent which made him sound more sexy especially with his gruff voice

“Wait, why is this place called Caster's Enterprise? I thought it was named after someone?” I asked, noticing that none of them introduced themselves as Caster.

“fiore mio, I had no idea you wanted to hear all my names”Ansel said with a smirk

(A/N:Fiore Mio- italian for my flower) He said, making me roll my eyes not wanting to comment on whatever Italian he said.

“So the meeting was called because?” I asked drawing our attention back to the meeting

“Plus is the cheque real?”

“yes of course” Ansel replied with a smirk

“For real?” I asked looking at Caspian to know if Ansel was lying making him nod at me with a smile

“certo che è vero tesoro mio” Ansel said, his Italian accent more prominent

(A/N: of course it's true my darling)

“Woah!!!” I exclaimed excitedly though I didn't understand a word Ansel said but Caspian's non verbal response was enough

“Why? Why would anyone give out 20 million dollars?” I asked, my excitement diminishing by my curiosity.

I looked at Ansel who was sharing a look with Caspian who in turn nodded and pulled out some documents and handed it to me

“What is this?” I asked as I read the document

“It's a contract marriage with no annulment” Ansel replied with no emotion

“What the f**k!”

“I need a wife and I choose you, I know you don't need the money so you have every reason to walk out but I need you” Ansel said again it would have warmed my heart except it sounded emotionless

“You might not remember but we three used to be best of friends” Caspian said smiling softly

“I have no idea of what you are talking about, why won't I remember my own friends?”

“Do you remember anything about your childhood?” Ansel asked and I shook my head I remembered but not so much

“What about high school?”

“A few but it's all blurry and that's because I…..” I started but was interrupted by Caspian

“You had an accident and lost your memories, selective retrograde amnesia and no one knows what caused your accident except you but you don't remember”

“Uhh yeah” I replied thrown off by his explanation which was correct

“So what? You knew me through out highschool, c’mon I must have changed in college or after college” I said making Ansel laugh which shocked me but was beautiful nonetheless

“il mio piccolo sputafuoco, Non ti ho mai perso di vista, sei mio” (A/N: my little spitfire, I never let you out of my sight, you are mine) Ansel said which sent a chill down my spine and not in a scary way

“ Oh c’mon Ansel you know I don't understand Italian” I groaned making him smirk

“I went where you went and when I couldn't I was always watching you” He explained with a smirk which made my eyes widen

“YOU WERE STALKING ME!!” I shrieked while he just smirked

“You always knew I was like this plus we are already married this is just for formality sake,I'm sorry you don't remember” He said not sounding sorry at all

“You jerk!” I shouted ready to hit him with my bag

“What can I say I'm a possessive jerk”He said making me groan

“Wait, what do you mean by married?”

“We got married when you were 4,renewed our vows again in grade school, and renewed it twice in highschool” He explained making my eyes bulge out of is socket

“In front of a priest?”

“Yeah with witnesses and all, along with video evidences”

“Ring?” I asked and he pulled out a chain with two rings hung on it

“come here amore mio” He said and I came and sat where Caspian was sitting before, finally noticing his absence

“Give me your hand”

I placed my hand in his realizing he had removed the ring from the chain. It was a cheap ring with fake gold. As he slid the ring into my ring finger I started to get flashbacks which were blurry switching from when I was a child, smiling at a boy that was older than I am, with about 3 years to when I was in grade school smiling at the same boy to when I was in high school.

The flashbacks became more fast paced and blurry till I finally blacked out.

I woke to the sound of a soft beeping from a machine and the smell of antiseptic.

I groaned at the blinding light as I tried to open my eyes and quickly closed it and opened it again slowly so that my eyes could adjust to the light.

“You okay?” I heard and turned to the sound of the voice seeing it was Caspian

“Where is Ansel?”I asked immediately, ignoring his question

“He is with the doctor”

“Well I feel fine let's get out of here”I said, unhooking the IV and drip from my arms which stung like hell and due to how I carelessly pulled them I started bleeding seriously. Damn movies make it so cool but it hurts like hell

“ The hell Adeline!” Caspian yelled pressed the emergency button

“Why the f**k would you do that?”

“Ansel is going to lose his s**t”

“I don't know,” I replied with a sigh.

The door to the private ward opened and Ansel along with about 4 doctors and 2 nurses entered, making me roll my eyes. One of the nurses quickly started disinfecting the blood and when she was done she plastered it. The doctors and the other nurse left when she was done

“I’ve signed the discharge papers let's go” Ansel said coldly clearly unhappy

“Could you get me the documents? I want to go through it before signing”

“Caspian would give it to you tomorrow” Ansel said and walked out before I could say anything else

“Okay”

Caspian helped me up and together we walked to his car. He helped me into the back seat, got into the driver's seat and drove off, he didn't even ask for directions which made me sigh. They really did stalk me.

He pulled over in front of my house, handed me my bag, came down and helped me out of the car. I could have done it alone though my legs weren't affected but I refused to say anything.

“Ansel is angry because he almost lost you all those years ago and you were so careless with yourself you got injured, anything could have happened to you but you don't care” Caspian explained making me frown

“I didn't mean to injure myself though and thanks for explaining”I muttered with a smile. He smiled back at me and ruffled my hair which I just noticed had fallen out from its bun.

“You piece of s**t” I said glaring at me but he just laughed and winked at me. He soon got into his car and drove off, leaving me standing in front of my house.

I opened the door and stepped in knowing mama would have been peeping from the window since I didn't enter the house immediately the car drove in.

“Mama I'm home” I said as I climbed up the stairs to my room to shower.

I finished showering and put on black shorts which barely covered my ass with pink stripes at the edges and a black tank top. I wrapped my hair with the towel, not in the mood to blow dry it. Although I knew my decision was going to tell me a f**k you when I want to comb it since it's going to get tangled but till then.

I went into the kitchen seeing mama preparing lunch, I kissed her cheek and sat on one of the stools in the kitchen island. She placed a bowl of fruits in front of me, making me smile happily as I munched on them.

“So?” Mrs Ammerson asked waiting for me to gist her

“Ugh”I groaned holding back a laugh since I knew she had been eagerly waiting for me to spill the beans

“b***h you better tell me everything” She said and I nodded laughing. I told her everything from how his workers treated me like some queen till Caspian dropped me home.

“You still don't remember anything?” She asked softly Andi sighed and shook my head

“I only remember my parents were the worst they didn't care about me”I stated sadly making her frown

“Oh l, my baby, come here” she cooed, I stood and walked towards her and she developed me in a hug

“It's going to be fine, everything will work out fine, okay sweetie?” She said and I nodded

I decided to help her cook, Mrs Ammerson cooked mostly Italian dishes. Soon enough we were done making the pasta alla boscaiola. She brought out the dessert which was Tiramisu which made me so excited

We ate and talked about our day. Mama spoke while I listened and gave my input every time. I cleaned up when we were done and joined mama to crochet while thinking of everything that happened today.

The day quickly went by and soon it was evening. Mama was preparing dinner while I was going through the documents which had come by an hour ago.

I finally finished going through it and signed it when Mama called me down to come and eat.

We ate, talking about random things, then I cleaned up while she went to bed. I sat on the barstool in the Island and pulled out my phone seeing a text from my friend at work Lisa although we weren't close.

Lisa: Hey girl, you okay, heard you called in sick

10:34am

I rolled my eyes at the text, she already knew I wasn't sick and that something came up which was what she wanted to know

Me: Yeah, woke up late and wasn't getting myself.

9:45pm

I replied it wasn't the first time I called in sick when I woke up late. Leaving the chat I saw a message from my friend, although she isn't from work, we met in college as roommates and became kind of close

Kaia: You okay girl? I just feel like you aren't

7:47am

Kaia: Is anyone pestering you ?

8:00am

Kaia: Mama Ammerson said you went to Caster Enterprise

8:30am

Kaia: Girrrrrlll I need pics

8:32am

Kaia: Damn Caspian is hot as f**k🥵 did you see the CEO

8:40am

Kaia: Damn girrrllll later I have a customer. I'm coming over later for the details you better not be asleep or il going to climb in through the window

8:40am

I laughed while reading the text ready to reply but the doorbell rang making me smile

I opened the door and my best friend Kai barged in wearing a blue short like mine barely covering her big ass and a white cropped top which she matched with a pair of slides. Kaia has almond honey brown eyes, dirty blonde hair which was naturally curly, she is slightly taller than I am which is like 5 ‘4 while I'm 2 inches shorter

Kaia walked past me while I locked the door, and went into the kitchen, pulled out an ice cream tube and spoons and brought it to the Island. I joined her and we started licking the ice cream.

“Damn Girrrrrlll you didn't reply my messages” she said smacking the back of my head making me groan

“I just saw it now dumbass” I replied rubbing where she hit

“So is he hot?” She asked and I nodded making her squeal

“Hotter than Caspian?”

“Yes Girrrrrlll ” I said taking a spoon of ice cream while she squealed again

“Did you guys f**k?” She asked wiggling her brows at me making me choke which led to me coughing out my lungs while the b***h just stared at me laughing

“What? no!” I replied when I finally calmed down all thanks to me while she just rolled her eyes

“So what did you do?” She asked which made me roll my eyes as I fetched myself a cup of water from the tap to calm my throat after which I told her everything.

“You are going to see him tomorrow right?”

“Yeah, we have to discuss the contract”

“Wait, what?” She shrieked

“You didn't discuss it before signing?”

“OMG Kai I f****d up”

“Nothing new” She replied with a smirk

“Let's go to his office tomorrow then” she said

“Don't you have customers?” I asked, you see Kaia is a hair stylist and is so good at her job, she takes care of my hair too

“Well they can wait, c’mon let's get the party started” she said as she took the last spoon of the ice cream, threw the tube into the trash and pulled out her phone. She connected her phone to the television so we could binge on our favorite movies and talk s**t about the actors. I laughed, joining her on the floor in the sitting room.

We watched the television and talked about random things till we slept off on the couch.
