Chapter 20

Jamie POV

Brett landed with a thud, shifting on the fly to land in his human form, on his knees, in front of my sister. He was completely naked and unashamed of the way he looked. Kelly was taken back by who her mate was. I don’t think she thought she would find her mate here in my pack. I love my sister and I love Brett like a brother but I don’t know if this could work…

Ash must have sensed my feelings, she wrapped her arm around my waist, I placed my arm around her shoulder and my other on her stomach. ‘leave them alone. They need to make their own choice. Plus, your sister needs your support, not you interference.’ I groaned, knowing she was right. I heard a few small gasps from the crowd. As I looked up to see the commotion they were starring at me and my mate. I had forgotten that I had placed my hand on her stomach.

“Alpha, is the Luna carrying your pup?” asked a pack member, another shouted

“now we have three things to celebrate” Kelly looked over to me with joy and happiness on her face.

“Pack!” I called and everyone stopped to look at me. “tonight, we were meant to celebrate my sister becoming one with her wolf and the pack. We still need to complete the run, but first, myself and the Luna would like to be the first to congratulate my sister and my Beta in finding each other tonight. May you both find happiness” ‘don’t you ever think of hurting my sister’ I mind linked Brett. He slouched a little under my words. There was no command, just a warning, “ Also, the Luna and I would like to announce to the pack that we are expecting our first pup.” The crowd went crazy with shouts of congratulations and hoots. Ashley blushed, leaned over and kissed me in front of everyone. This was our first show of public affection and I don’t think it went too badly if I do say so myself. she pulled away from me and nodded towards Kelly and Brett.

“Kelly, when you are ready, unleash your wolf and lead the run” I told her in my Alpha tone. She nodded and began to let her wolf take control of her body once more. She shivered and dropped to all fours. Her bones started to crack and pop. Her nose became a snout, she had fur covering her entire body. She was a chestnut colour and as large as her new mate is. She lifted her head and howled at the moon, the rest of the pack joined in and Kelly and Brett took off on their run. “you shouldn’t shift Ash” I told her. She looked at me confused. “why cant I run?”

Ash POV

I was pretty pissed at Jamie. Who is he to tell me that I cant join the pack in the run? He still had not answered me and I was getting even more pissed off with every second passing by. He looked embarrassed to tell me.

“well? Why cant I go for a run?” I demanded. He took a breath, looked me in the eye and began to speak in a whisper

“I don’t want you to.” He said quietly. I was about to get really angry and give him a what for when he started to talk again. “its partly because your pregnant, but mostly I cant run and keep you safe at the same time and I don’t want to risk your safety and the safety of our pup” his words managed to calm me down but i became really disappointed that I couldn’t be there for Kelly. I sighed, nodded my head and turned away to head back towards the pack house when I felt his arms wrap around me waist. “wait, what are you doing? Why are you not on the run?” I was confused. An Alpha should run with his pack.

“I mind linked Kelly and told her that we would not be joining in the run. I told her why and she was ok with that. Plus, it gives her more time to spend on Brett.” I smiled at the thought of her finding her happiness and was a little selfish in my next thought, that she wouldn’t need to leave the pack and I would still have my friend. I let out a yawn and Jamie swooped in and carried me to OUR room bridal style.

“this will never get old” I told him, nuzzling my nose into his neck and rubbing against his mark. I could hear him give a low growl and smiled against his skin. I let out another yawn and relaxed into my mate. I could feel him laying me down onto our bed and helping me get out of my clothes. I felt the bed dip and knew he was getting in too. I waited for him to pull me to him, but he didn’t. this time he shocked me a little when he rested his head against my stomach and planted kissed. He was talking, but not to me. Listening to his voice relaxed me and I drifted off to sleep.

“Little flower. Can you hear me? I am coming to claim what is mine. You will be MINE!”

“HOLY s**t! ASH, BABY WAKE UP” I could hear him screaming at me and struggled to open my eyes. When I did I felt gravity pull me down to the bed. I landed with a thump and wrapped my hands around my stomach, making sure I didn’t hurt my pup.

“what happened?” I barely recognised my voice. It was harsh and husky.

“you don’t know? Baby, you were floating in mid air. I couldn’t get anywhere near you. Every time I tried a gust of wind would push me back.”

“huh, well… that’s not normal” I replied

“I don’t want to scare you again Ash but, what the f**k is going on?” he demanded. I had a feeling that what the moon goddess told me in my dream was starting to come true. I shared my thoughts with Jamie and he seemed to accept my explanation.

“ok, I get it. the moon goddess has given you powers.. what brought on the levitating?” I sighed. I knew his reaction wasn’t going to be great but if I kept this from him, he may never again trust me.

“Craig spoke to me in my sleep last night and told me he was coming, he told me that he was coming to claim what is his” I could hear the growl coming from Jamie and I could feel his Alpha Aura radiating off him. He sat on the edge of the bed. Not moving, just growling I sat on his lap and rubbed his back. He took a few deep breaths of my scent and began to calm down.

“you know, soon I will be too fat to sit here like this.” I complained. “you will not be fat! You will be carrying our pup, there is nothing sexier to me” we held each other like this for a while before my stomach gave away my hunger.

“lets get you fed” he kissed my forehead and led me down to the kitchen to enjoy breakfast
