Catherine has escaped!

RAVENNA’S POV “Did you by chance see someone odd?” he mused, and I squeezed my brow in confusion as I darted my gaze from left to right and even to my window before turning to face him, shaking my head. “I didn’t, uncle. Why did you ask? Do you need my help?” I feigned a pout on my lips, to make him think I was worried, but it was quite a turbulent drum inside my body. My heart was beating so fast. Uncle and I f****d a lot last time. What if he sees through my disguise immediately? His furrowed brows immediately relaxed as he breathed, and then the dirtiest smile bloomed on his face as he entered my room, closing the door behind him. I took a step back. “I encountered a very daring one last night…” He started, and my heart skipped a bit. “And?...” “She reminded me of you.” My heartbeat raced at the sound of that, and before I could continue taking a step back, I was pressed against the wall, caged by this man. His scent invaded my nose and left me gasping for air. Shit. “What exactly did she do?” I asked innocently, my eyes darting between his as I gulped. He narrowed his eyes at me and then smirked. “She allowed me to bang her.” I held my breath, and he seemed to have noticed as his eyes suddenly wavered. It only took me a moment. I shoved him off me, while I walked as far as possible, standing before my open window and pretending to be admiring the beautiful scenery of the lush trees. Lycos was always peaceful and would stay that way as long as Uncle was alive. The room was quiet, but I knew he was right behind me, but not coming close. I wondered why, but his words still angered me. Didn’t he love me? What pleasure does he get saying he banged another woman? Even if that woman was me. A sour feeling erupted in my heart and I clenched my fist tight. “You have been avoiding me since my return party, Ravenna.” His voice was smooth and thick, and I felt my throat go dry just by listening to it. I closed my eyes for a brief second before opening them again, swallowing a lump down my throat. “You changed, Uncle.” I turned slightly to look into his cold mint-blue eyes that were filled with dread and for a moment I thought, what if my uncle got a second chance just like me? But that was impossible. He snickered, amused by my question. But I could only smile too, because even I would find my question absurd. “Changed in what way? My sudden interest in masked women appearing in my room and offering themselves as a doll I could break?” I clenched my fist tightly again, trying to keep myself sane because, with any slip-up, my uncle would know it was me just by a glance. He has already started suspecting me. I gasped in surprise, my lips flying open as I quickly rushed towards him, “Uncle! Who could do such a thing?!” I examined his body from top to bottom to see if he was injured. “I am not injured, Rave. The one you should be worried about is the lady.” He released a frustrated grunt, and I stopped in my tracks, straightening my body to show my white teeth in a wide smile. Well, let’s use another approach. “Uncle, you can’t do that. You promised to be with me for eternity, remember…” I said with a small whimper as I lowered my head, pretending to be affected by his words. It seemed to have worked because he suddenly tilted my head up and gave me a passionate kiss. My eyes flew open in surprise, not expecting that! His tongue tapped against my lips as he sucked on my bottom lip, waiting for an entrance. I was staring at his nose at first until I raised my gaze to see his intense mint-blue eyes staring down at me like I was some kind of ant. He didn’t give me the chance to respond. He wrapped his arm around my waist and increased the intensity of his kiss until I threw caution to the sea and opened my lips. Like a rush of wind, his tongue slipped into my mouth, knocking the air out of my lungs. I felt intoxicated and light-headed, feeling like I was burning from head to toe. But before I could take care of the aching need in my core, he stepped back. Ending the intense kiss. My mind had become hazy, so when he opened his lips to say something, I quickly parted my lips. “I advise you to find that woman. She is definitely among the women in the pack. Bring out all the unmated women. Since you had s*x with her, you should be able to know who it was.” What the hell? Am I trying to implicate myself or hide myself? I feel dumb right now, and I can’t swallow back my words. My heart was beating so fast, my fingers were practically shaking. I didn’t plan that kiss, and I hope it won’t change anything. But I stand strong! “Alright, let’s do that,” he pursed his lips as his gaze became cold like daggers slowly piercing into my heart, but I stood my ground. “I will make her pay for trying to hide from me.” I looked away immediately and laughed. “As if anyone could run away from you,” I mumbled, and he laughed, amused, but nodded his head. “Yeah, anyway, I am going on a trip in three days. Don’t miss me too much.” He announced as he came close again, and I stepped back only for him to catch me and draw me into his arms. “Stop running away from me, Rave.” “When have I ever run?” “You are doing it now, you never did that”. He kissed me on the eyes and I instinctively closed them, slowly relishing the warmth that seeped into my very soul just by his action. “Will you come back quick?” in a soft mellow voice I asked, hating how I sounded vulnerable and defenceless. He kissed my forehead with a small laugh escaping his lips. That sound always made my heart skip a beat just listening to it. “I will be back immediately,” he promised, and after a brief hug, he turned around and left my room, closing the door behind him quietly. I heaved for breath immediately after, holding the chair that was beside me, trembling. I have to remove whatever suspicion he has of me soon! **** Arranging some of my clothes in my wardrobe, I pondered what happened that afternoon. Uncle thought he could hide it well, but I noticed. He was trying to set boundaries. It was as if to say: you are getting only a kiss now and nothing more. I can’t put a finger on it but something is telling me that there is something fishy about Uncle. He is concealing something, but it may have nothing to do with me. He loved me, that’s for sure, but… ‘He doesn’t want the curse to affect you.’ Vienna suddenly spoke. This was the first time she had spoken to me today and my brows furrowed in worry. ‘Why didn’t you come out earlier?’ I asked her, and she chuckled, mocking me like the beast she was. She wasn’t like this in my previous life. ‘Zeke is one cold and ruthless Alpha. I can’t speak at will when he is with you because of the amount of cold energy seeping out of him.’ I didn’t understand a thing she just said, but that doesn’t matter, does it? ‘Are you scared?’ I asked. She scoffed, her ego bruised. ‘This one doesn’t get scared! He is just a mere mortal housing a foolish beast inside him!’ ‘Am I not a mere mortal?’ I closed the wardrobe with an amused smile on my face, and she snubbed me by going quiet after that. Typical Vienna. I was about to ask her what was wrong when I got a call. “Boss! Catherine has escaped!” My eyes flew open and grabbing my mask out of the wardrobe once more, I was gone with the wind. The darkness didn’t linger again because, using Catherine’s scent, I appeared right before her. “Oh, Goddess!” She squealed, but I removed my gun from the strap by her thighs and aimed at her legs just at the same time I pulled the trigger, letting my bullet hit her kneecap. “There is no escaping for you, Catherine.”
