3. THE PREPARATION “Come on, more cutlery Linda and don’t forget to put the flowers on the other end. If you really want to keep your job Agatha, then you don’t need me to tell you twice that you need to keep the dining table in order,” Serah’s mum barked orders as she walked over to the dining area. Perfection was her first name and a slight error would make her flip. Heck, she could even fire every single worker if crossed. Tonight however, she really needed everything to be extra perfect. Tonight she was falling for nothing short of ten over ten, considering she was going to make a very big announcement. Tremors of excitement rushed through her body as she pictured everyone’s face when finally she laid out the news. She walked over and helped in organizing the whole bouquet of flowers that decorated the entire place. She knew what perfection felt like and she is going to get it of course. She was a winner, she never loses, that is the first thing you should know about her. “Mummy, please calm down. Everything will be okay,” Polly who had been watching her mother all this time approached her and tried to talk to her into calming down. “I want everything to be perfect,” Her mother insisted. Seems like the word perfect is her very best word in the dictionary. “They will make everything perfect. Isn’t that true Linda?” Polly asked one of the helpers, taking a moment to glance at her. “Everything will be perfect, ma’am,” Linda reassured the both of them but her mother was still in doubt. “It is almost time and our visitors will be here anytime soon. Leave the work to Linda and Agatha. Trust me, they will make everything perfect and on time. All you have to do right now is to prepare yourself. You need to look good tonight mother,” Polly tried to convince her mother. Mary knew that what her daughter was telling her was the true. Nothing would be perfect if she was not looking her best tonight. She had bought a new Versace dress specifically for this occasion and she needed time to put her looks together. “Come on mommy,” Polly begged her mum. “Uh- Okay,” She gave in with a brief smile. Anyway, she had to give some more orders to ensure that everything will be okay and perfect for tonight. “Add more flowers and only the gold cutlery. I want the white plates. Is that okay?” She asked that of the two helpers. “Yes ma’am,” They nodded respectfully and that is when the mother and daughter left the dining. “Make sure you dress up nicely,” Mary reminded her daughter before walking into her vast room. Her husband Joseph was sitting on the bed. Joseph was in deep in thought for he was debating if what they were doing was right or wrong. He loved her daughters so much and he really hoped that the decision they have made as parents will make their daughter happy. But what if they don't get happy over their decision as their parents? He could handle many things thrown at him but her daughter's hating him was not one of them. That is how much he loved Serah and Polly. “Serah will be fine and she’d thank us later. The guy has a good heart and he is very kind too. I know it,” His wife reassured him after kissing him briefly on the cheek. Mary knew that Joseph was not decided about their plans for tonight. That explains why he was so deep in thought instead of preparing for the big night. “Something in me is telling me that we are sending our daughter to hell, she does not deserve this. She deserves to choose the one she wants to spend her life with.” Joseph countered as he rubbed his temples. He has always had an easy time with making decisions but this time, deciding on this is really a tough one. He hated feeling this way because he knew every time he felt this doubtful then it was probably because he was right. In this situation, then this is bad. “What if she hates us for this?” Joseph voiced his concern to Mary. “She won’t. Come on Joseph, stop overthinking on the same. Dress up for the Diaz family will be here before you know it. They are good at keeping time,” Mary reminded his husband. She had already decided and their decision is what will stick. Besides, they are their children. They should do as they say. Polly had a hard time finding what dress to wear. She wanted to look sexy in front of Logan and she hoped that the dress she will choose tonight will make him love her even more. Maybe he’d finally notice her if she put on something…enticing. She craved for him, everything about him made her go gaga. She wanted him so damn bad and by doing this, she hoped that it would be clear for him to see that she loves him. She was done being quiet about her own feelings and having to hurt in secret. There was no backing down from this. Today is the night that she will tell Logan the truth about what she feels for him. *** Logan Diaz held his game pad tightly as he fought the monster in his video game. He kept constantly cussing very time he missed him. This was admittedly the favorite part of his afternoon. With his girlfriend Jordyn being out of town, he was stuck at home. At least the game kept him busy. Fuck! He really did miss Jordyn. Right now, if she hadn’t been out of town, they’d be in some lucrative hotel, f*****g over and over till he made sure that she was too sore to move a limb. s*x with Jordyn was damn great and she knew what exactly to do to entice a man. Logan was the epitome of good looks, with his sharp jawline patched on a perfect face. With a toned body and a killer smile, ladies were always drooling over him. Jordyn was obsessed with him and he liked her. He had fun with her and that is what matters. Besides, she was a dime and sexy as hell. He didn’t believe in love. He felt like he was too grown for all that crap. He believed in choices. Choices like knowing Jordyn is the only girl he is going to f**k with. After a couple of minutes, he got tired of fighting the monsters and that is when he threw his game pad aside. Right in that moment however, before he could think of what next, her mother Naomi walked into the room. “Come on mum, I am older now. You are not supposed to walk into my room without calling my name first. The day you will find me f*****g a woman here then it will be your fault. I am just warning you." Logan warned his mother. Her mother’s lips were thinned in an instant and he realized that he had hurt her by saying that crap. He really needed to have a filter on his words when he is around his parents. “Sorry mum. I am truly sorry. Come in and please get comfortable. I was only joking. Give me a smile and please, tell me on what brings you here sweet mum,“He mumbled. He knew his way around his mum. Logan loved how mother so very much and she was one person he held so dearly to his heart. She is the queen of his life. “I will come to my son’s room the way I want and no one including you will stop me!” Naomi made it clear. “Okay mum, you win. You are free to come in here anytime you want,” Logan told her mother and by this, she returned a full smile on her face. “You have to dress up right away,” Her mother announced as she headed to the wardrobe to try and get something for him to wear. “Why? Are we going somewhere?” Logan jutted his eyebrows up in surprise. He thought that he was going to be home all day. Logan was introverted. He only hangs with the people he cared about and that includes Jordy . “Yes we are. We are going to the Sloan family for dinner,” Naomi said with a warm smile warming up her face. “Come on mum, is that necessary?” Logan hated going there. Serah, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sloan hated him for no apparent reason. If that is not enough, her siater Polly was always on his case, wanting him to spend time with her yet she is always boring as f**k. Logan was aware that their parents are friends but Polly really needed to chill. She was all over him for f***s sake. Who does that? Ugh! Going there today made his blood boil. “Yes, we are leaving in 30minutes. Hurry up. You know that your dad doesn’t like being delayed.” Naomi told this to her son. Logan respected his dad to the verge of fearing him. He knew for a fact that this is going to be a command more than a request. That man’s heart was made stone and if his mind was made up about something, he stood by it stoutly. He hastily got off the bed and started preparing after the mum left. He hoped that tonight will be a different dinner. Preferably shorter and less boring. Heck, it would be better if neither of the Sloan sisters were present. He could not exactly deal with Serah’s attitude and Polly lack of knowing the boundaries as they hang out. Wait, why are they even friends if he hates her this much? Maybe this night will be different because he will ensure that it is indeed different. He will ignore those two bitches. He has made it life thus he doesn't have to deal with them. After a quick bath, he slid into a dark Italian handmade suit. He glanced at his stature, a smile c*****g up his lips. With his jelled hair sleeked back into perfection and that suit married his frame, he looked like one delicious man candy and that was exactly how he loved to look. Not being cocky, but he knew he was good looking and he took advantage of that.
