My New Job

CHAPTER ONE "Yes! I've been accepted as the personal assistant of Liam Hemsworth!" I screamed at the top of my voice as I jumped around my apartment. I never expected they would pick me after seeing more classy ladies at the interview a week ago. The man who had done the interview, didn't look highly upon me. Thus, he had spoken rudely to me. I had lost hope of getting the job after seeing how everything had played out. I got home that day, and continued sending out my CV to different companies hoping to receive emails from them, but none replied. I returned from my work shifts and decided to check out my email and, fortunately for me, I saw an acceptance email from Hemsworth Company. I just couldn't contain my joy at the moment. I hurried over to get my phone and dialed my best friend's number. "Hey, girlfriend…." I chirped excitedly over the phone the moment my friend picked up the call. "What's the news besty? You sound so happy. It's been long a've heard you sound this happy," Olivia said, as she knows me so well. She knew I had a hard life growing up without my parents and then struggling alone to make hands meet. It wasn't easy. "Guess, girlfriend" I chirped again and guess, Olivia rolled her eyes as though she could see me. This is her usual attitude. "You should know better that I ain't good at guessing stuff. Just spill it out, I'm curious already", Olivia cried out in a baby-like tone. "Alright, Alright. I've just got accepted as the personal assistant to the CEO of Hemsworth Company" I finally spilled the beans. Oliva was shocked and happy at the same time as she squealed loudly. "Yeeeeh, besty I'm so happy for you." She missed softly, making me giggle loudly. "You know what, you've got to come over. I'm heading home now. Come over to the house. We've got some changes to do." Oliva said while giggling to herself. I immediately knew she was definitely up to something. That girl is so unpredictable! "What are you up to? I don't trust you; you know that, right?" I asked her with a frown. "You've got no choice, baby. I'm waiting, bye …" she said and hung up almost immediately. I smiled and murmured "That girl is definitely crazy." * The cab just pulled over at Olivia's home address as I made my way to the door and rang the bell. The bell didn't ring out properly when the door was suddenly open and Olivia's head popped out. "Hey, besty!" She yelled and swiftly took hold of my arm and pulled me as the banging sound of the door followed immediately. "Arghhh '' I screamed out, as I wasn't expecting such a move from Olivia. 'This girl behaves like a maniac. How did I befriend an opposite of myself? ' I thought inwardly as I tried to catch my breath. "Liva!!! What the hell did you do that for?" I demanded, glaring hard at her as she had a smirk on her face and her hands akimbo on her waist. She looked like someone who was ready for a fight. "I just gave you a perfect welcome, didn't you like it?" She asked, grinning widely even though I was giving her the exact opposite of that. "Ahhh, I'm so going to scratch that smile off your face, Liva!" I threatened her as I made my way towards her and she fled into her bedroom and banged the door shut. "You can't catch me…" * It's been an hour since I arrived at Olivia's house and, right now, I'm overly exhausted from having to try out different dresses. "Liva, do you really have to allow me to go through this stress? Why get me these clothes when I've got what to wear to the office?" I asked in a tired voice. "Keep shut and try this on. I guess you must be forgetting about the company who offered you a job. That's like the top wealthiest company in New York City, and you're not just staff there, you're the CEO's personal assistant. What would others say when you stand close to him and look more like a cleaner than his personal assistant?" Oliva asked, still stuffing out more dresses and dumping them on my body. "Are my dresses that bad?" I asked in deep thought. "I never said that to my girlfriend. They just aren't classy enough for your job, Sophia! Don't you get it?" Oliva asked, glaring at me. I thought about all oliva said and it was definitely the truth. If I arrive at the company the next morning wearing those cheap dresses, I might look stupid in front of those classy men and women. And then, I end up ridiculing myself. "I think you are right, Oliva. I'm sorry for acting like an ungrateful person when you obviously want what's best for me. I really do appreciate all of your efforts in trying to go through all of this trouble to make sure I don't get ridiculed by people." I apologized, knowing I'd been acting like an ungrateful b***h! "Oh stop that, Sophia! You know how much I love doing these things. They aren't big deals for me as long as I'm doing them for my best friend! Enough of this chit-chat. Try on those dresses, there's not much time before the day runs out." Oliva urged on. I didn't bother saying a word to her. I reluctantly picked up the dresses and tried them on, one after another. "They all look so nice on you. Once you are ready for work, you are gonna look even more elegant. You've got the looks' girl. So, go out there and get yourself a man !" Oliva suddenly added the part she knew was going to spike me. "Don't even think of starting . What does getting a boyfriend have to do with my work? And I never told you I needed one!" I yelled with my hands akimbo on my waist. "Whatever girl.. Tomorrow for you." Liva said with a smile which made me roll my eyes with a frown.
