Where am I?

1077 Words
As I open my eyes and look around me, I do not know where I am. It is extremely quiet. Deafening. I could hear myself swallow and I have always hated that. Phobias are real and definitely suck. I started to walk around, checking out my new surroundings. Is this heaven? I think to myself, or maybe it is just a nicer version of hell? I don’t think it is either actually. I recognize that voice! I turned around and there she was. I smile widely as tears start to fall from my eyes. Allie! I ran to her and dropped to my knees, wrapping her in my arms. I am so glad you are here girl! I would not want to be here for eternity with anyone else. If I am dead, at least we are together. I nuzzled into her soft light brown fur. Same here my friend, same here, she said, chuckling lightly. We sat together for a few minutes, thankful for being together. “You do know you are not alone here, right?" “AHH!! Who is that?” I screamed. I grabbed onto Allie, once again thankful to have her there with me. We both looked up and I saw the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life. She was like an angel. She had long brown hair that looked so incredibly soft I just wanted to run my fingers through it. She had bright blue eyes that were soothing, but looked as though they were looking straight through you and knew your deepest, darkest secrets. She had beautiful ivory skin and was dressed in a light blue dress that had long sleeves and reached the floor. She had ballet flats on that were the same color as her dress. Who is this woman? Mother Moon! Allie exclaimed, running over to the woman. She smiled down at Allie and ran her hand through her beautiful light brown coat. “Allie?” I asked, “Mother Moon? Mother…. Wait a minute?..... You’re the Moon Goddess?” I asked, “Oh my goodness, I apologize, Moon Goddess,” I said, dropping to my knees in front of her. She's probably going to smite me now for not being respecful to a Goddess. Well, s**t can't get much worse, can it? I sit there, my head downcast, waiting for the smite to come at me. “Oh Brooke, there is no need for that,” she said, smiling, “please stand.” I looked at her, gaping, but slowly stood up, wondering what kind of alternate realty I had been transported into where it was cool to be so chill with the damned Moon Goddess. “Brooke dear, you worry too much,” She said, chuckling. “Anyway, you asked a question just a minute ago and I wanted to answer it. You are not in heaven or hell, you are in my home. This is where wolves and their human counterparts go when they are in between life and death.” I c**k my head to the side, looking at her confused. “You do realize I was shot to kill. How can I not be dead?” I asked. She let out a deep sigh, and appears to be very sad. “You are right, Brooke. You were shot and you were killed. You are not dead anymore though. You are not dead because I made it so. There is a lot that happened behind the scenes that you do not know about, and this all led up to you being charged and sentenced for murder. I know full well you did not kill Doctor Ellis. Him and his wolf were two of my favorites, you know. He was so kind and gentle and an amazing healer. He kept so many of my children from going up those stairs too soon.” She looked so sad when she said this. “I was very saddened when I found him the way I did. He was one of the very few people who I knew was on my side in that pack. I am still trying to figure out where I went wrong, Moon Goddess. I thought my pack had the same love for me that I did for them. How could they forsake me like that?” Tears started slipping down my cheeks. “More importantly though, how could my husband and mate do that to me?” I lost it. I dissolved into tears. Allie sat down next to me, and I hugged her tightly, letting the tears flow. With everything going on between being charged, sentenced, and then having the sentence carried out, I never really had a chance to think too deeply about everything I went through. I have only had time to feel the anger. I haven't let myself feel the sadness. I also never had the opportunity to think about everything I had lost. I wiped the tears from my eyes, then looked up at the Moon Goddess. “How did this all happen? Where did I go wrong?” She looked down and sighed deeply, “Brooke, you did nothing wrong sweetheart. You did everything right. Unfortunately, things go wrong when people look to change their reality, their future. Someone did this and a ripple effect occurred, not only affecting their future, but yours as well." “I am so confused, Moon Goddess…” she waved her hand, “Just call me Selene, Brooke. I do not like formal talk.” She looked at me with a sweet smile on her face. “Okay, Selene, I do not understand what this all means?” “I brought you here, Brooke, because I believe with all my heart that you deserve a second chance to have the life you have earned and the life you deserve. You were robbed of the beautiful future I saw for you long before you were even born.” I looked at her completely confused. “Yes dear, I knew a long time ago you would be born. I knew you would be paired with Allie because you two are just the perfect human/wolf match. Your life was going really well and was right on track with what I had foreseen, honestly. It was anyway, until your parents died long before their time…” My breath hitched. What did she mean by my parents dying long before their time?
