CHAPTER 28 Nora Rodgers, dressed in a short see-through negligee, was lying on her king-sized bed. She’d finished talking to her father, but the telephone receiver was still in her hand. He wanted her to re-enlist in the Marines; he felt Nora should go back into the service, where his daughter belonged. Nora was mulling their conversation over in her mind when she heard a noise out by the swimming pool. Nora put the receiver back in the cradle and slid out of bed, flicked on the outside lights, and looked out the sliding glass door. Not seeing anything, she turned off the lights and lay back in bed.
