CHAPTER 29
In the morning, Steve Vargas called Wayde and gave him his cell number and the address of where he was staying. He informed Wayde he planned on going over to see Jeffrey. He needed to get more information for the senator.
After talking to Steve, Wayde went into the kitchen and made a pot of coffee. He put two slices of raisin bread in the toaster when his phone rang. He went into his office to answer it.
“Hi, Wayde, you miss me?”
His jaw dropped, “Betti?” He hesitated. “Or should I call you ‘Elizabeth’?”
She chuckled, “Either one.”
He gritted his teeth. “I trusted you.”
“And loved?”
He didn’t answer.
“Sorry Wayde, at first it was a s****l attraction—and it was interesting to have an affair with the man my ex-hired to find me.”
“Yes, I’ll bet you got a kick out of that.
