Twenty-One

Niccolo Days go by before I see Manon again. I was busy dealing with a mess upstate. In fact, many more weeks would have passed without me seeing her if i.hadnt got that call. “Niccoló,” She'd panted tearfully, “I need help.” Naturally, I rushed right over. When I pulled up to her apartment, nothing seemed amiss. That is till I walked up the stairs. The door was ajar, making me rush inside. “Manon?!" I called, scanning the area. It was trashed. The words rat, and snitch were graffitied on the walls. Things were overturned, it was chaos. “Manon?!” “I'm in here!” My breathing hitched. She sounded so...so scared. I had never heard her sound that way before. I move some furniture out the way, finding her huddled in a shivering ball. She looked up at me, tears staining her face. Fury engulfed me. Pure fury, unadulterated rage. Someone would pay for this. “I have you now," I murmured to her, picking her up. Her figures gripped my suit jacket. “You're safe now." *** The car ride back to my main estate was silent. Five black SUVS rode behind us, five in front. “Where are we going," she finally asks me, quietly. “To one of my estates.” I watch her, as her body goes rigid. “I have work tommorow.” “Not anymore,” I state simply, casting my gaze elsewhere. Unexpectedly, she doesn't protest. “Get some rest,” I order. “It'll be a while before we get there." Instead of defying me, she merely closes her eyes. *** By the time we get to my house, it was three in the morning. I have a meeting to attend in a few hours. Sighing, I get out of the car. “Capo, would you like me to take her?” I shake my head. “No. I have her." I unhook her seatbelt, slowly sliding her out the door and into my arms. She stirs, but settles back into sleep. I carry her inside, up to my room. The Famiglia is dead silent as I walk past them, a woman in my arms. It's unusual of me to entertain women, but it's unheard of for me to carry them. Or at least, it was. I take care not to wake her as we walk up the stairs. I unlock the door beside mine, lay her in the room. The poor thing didn't even have any shoes on, just an oversized tee shirt. I let her stay in it, and tuck her in. Then I undress, stepping into the shower. Steam floods the bathroom. I should be sleep, but my mind is wide awake. I sigh, raising my head, letting the hot water beat down on my tired face. I brush a hand through my wet hair, mu eyes closing. They snap open as I hear the door creak. “Niccoló?” She calls out smally. I can't help but smirk. “Niccoló, are you in here?” Shutting the water off, I open the shower door, wrapping the towel around my waist. I open the door, letting the steam flood into the room. “I'm here, pulcino.” Her eyes widen at the sight of me, making me smirk even more. She flounders before coming up with: “Holy f**k, you're hot.” “Language,” I chastised, approaching her small form. A better man would ask if she was okay. A better man would not want to take advantage of her vulnerable state. Thankfully, I'm not a better man. I put my arm around her waist, bending until my lips touched hers. She shook under my touch. “Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?” She looks up at me through her lashes. “No. But I could kiss you with it." I dive down connecting our lips. She gives a throaty moan in response, her body arching toward me needily. And to think...if I had been a better man I wouldn't have this little tiger scratching at my back, pulling me closer. Her fingers slide into my hair, my hand gripping her ass, pulling her close. My tongue slips into her hot, wet mouth. She gasps, feeling my erection through the thin towel between us. “Manon," I whisper her name. “Niccolo," She breathily returns. “Lay down on the f*****g bed before I hurt you.” She stands her ground. “I thought you said I was safe?” I smirk, pushing her down on the bed. “I think you knew that was a lie?” I let the towel drop and the games begin.
