Manon
I SIGH, stacking the papers. Damnit. I'm late for lunch. As it turns out, Starling can't force to take an vacation-well not for now than a week, anyway.
Mr. Starling isn't exactly speaking to me but... He'll get over it.
In time.
I'm about to leave for lunch when my friend Kelly peaks in my office.
"Hey girl,"
I grin. "Hey Kels. What's up?"
"There's hot Italian guy looking for you,"
My mind starts whirling. "What?! Where is he?"
She blushes. "Out in the studio, looking fine."
"You didn't tell him where I was?" I quip hopefully.
She shook her head. "I didn't know if you wanted him to find you."
"And yet," His deep, accented voice sounds from the doorway, "Here I am."
I don't hold back my tortured groan.
"Manon," He greets me lightly, kissing my cheek, "I brought you lunch, pulcino."
He snaps, smiling at me. Three men file in the room, arms full with food in containers, steaming.
"Did you bring lunch, or food for the country?"
He shrugged. "Same difference. You don't eat enough."
Kelly faded out of the room, shutting the door behind her. And then there were two.
His piercing dark eyes examine me.
"You look nice, pulcino."
"What does that even mean," I reply, thoroughly irked.
"It means little chick. It's an endearment," He responded nonchalantly. He approached me.
I step back.
"Have you thought about our discussion?"
I ignore his question.
"Why are you here? How do you know where I work?"
"Let us just say, I have my sources, yes?"
I roll my eyes. "Just leave, Niccoló."
He stepped forward, his long legs eating up the distance between us.
"Baby," He smirks. "I came to see you. Come here."
Shaking my head, I step back. "N-No, don't come any closer."
Did he listen to me?
"Don't be shy, baby. I won't defile you right here and now."
I don't trust him. I especially don't trust myself with him.
"Come here," He coaxes, his beautifully eyes boring into mine.
I refuse, stepping back instead. His smirk widens as I force myself in a corner.
His large body blocks me in, warm and solid.
His hands settle on either side of my head as he ever so slowly bent down.
"You never run from a wolf," He whispered in my ear hotly, "It'll only make him chase you."
My eyes close of their own accord, my body reacting so strongly to his presence. He effects me in a way no one has, in a way I doubt anyone could.
I swallow harshly. I force myself to think.
"Yes, but if you give a dog a bone, he'll bury it, and expect more," I whisper back, "And what is a dog but a watered down wolf?"
He chuckled deeply, sinfully making my skin and n*****s pebble.
"That is true. But tell me, pulcino. Who do I most resemble? A wolf? Or a dog?"
A wolf no doubt. There is nothing domesticated about this man. He wild and unhinged.
"Does it matter," I say instead.
"Of course it does," He pulls back, cupping my chin roughly. "One is wild, one is tame. That changes the rules. Because one will tear you apart, and the other will bark."
My eyes lock on his. With my face in his grip he smirks harshly, bringing my fave to his. I can't help but feel helpless under his touch,.can't help but enjoy it.
My eyes close, knowing.
I wait. Our breath intermingles, the rigid outline of his body against my womanly curves. And yet, our lips never touch.
Irritated, I snatch away. "Do enjoy toying with people Niccoló?"
"Yes," He answers honestly, his deep timbre sending shivers down my spine. "Sometimes, o do like to play with my food. Other times, I'd rather go straight to the kill."
"When it comes to you, pulcino...I'll say this, when I kiss you the first time, really kiss you, it'll be somewhere I can strip you, and throw you down, f**k you like an animal."
My body is on fire as he makes these promises against my lips.
"For now, you must be content with this,"
He nuzzles my lips with his, lips soft and warm. Then he pulls away, leaving me in seemingly eternal suspence.
Little did I know, that mayhem was just around the corner, and that soon, not for a while, not a night would go by that I wouldn't regret not everything ending right there.
