Chapter Two - Fresh start - right?

I remember Samantha didn’t hesitate and wrapped me in a blanket and brought me all the food they had left from their dinner. Rick was a Doctor, he checked to see I was okay whilst poor Alissa looked so confused.

Almost 11 years later I call them family and they have treated me as such, although they do not know my heritage or what I am. I didn’t go to a public school it was far too difficult to explain a sudden daughter but I would get all I needed from books at home and Samantha and Rick. Alissa would attend Lakeside Secondary School and we had quite a close bond.

Although I didn’t attend school I did have two Human Friends Jesy and Marissa as well as one wolf friend Marcus. Marcus was from my pack and managed to escape so he decided to find me after hearing my mother ran with me.

He is a little older than me, 19. He works at the local gym so of course, he’s a bit of a hottie especially with mid-length brown curly hair and piercing hazel eyes.

ANYWAY… Jesy and Marissa have no idea what I am, but I wouldn’t change having the pair of them for anything. I have a suspicious feeling they are plotting something silly for my 18th birthday in 3 days but I continue to pretend I have no idea anything is going on – It’s better that way.

“Dinner’s ready” Samantha called from the kitchen. I flew downstairs because it was my favorite... Lasagne. I admit I am a bit of a pasta fiend… “Ah Maia, of course, you’re first” Sam laughs “In that case grab your sister I’m not sure she heard me” she sighs. “No problem – probably listening to music you know how she is” I laughed. As I got to the top floor slowly approaching Alissa’s room I smelt something odd.

I know I’m a wolf with certain senses but this was… new. I entered Alissa’s room to find her at her desk listening to music as per… but with a tall dark hooded figure hanging over her. He sees me and leaves through the window – What did I just see?!

I grab Alissa and she shouts “Hey! I heard I’m coming already… Jeez, Maia calm down it’s just lasagne.” I didn’t tell her a thing I just waited for her to go down before I locked her window and returned to the table.

“What’s wrong darling? You’ve barely touched your food?” Sam said looking concerned. “Nothing – I I’m fine. Thought I could eat more than my stomach had room for that’s all. Can I go and see Marcus? I wanted to ask about the classes” I said trying to hide how worried I am. “Sure just be home before dark ok?” She grinned. “Sure thing,” I said before flying out of the door.

I’ve never run so fast in my life, I hope Marcus can help me. Why me? Why now?!
