“ARRESTED?” PHILIP SAID. “Arrested as in jail?”
I gave it to him in twenty-five words or less and said, “Eavesdrop on my next three telephone calls and you’ll know all there is to know. Meanwhile, we have to hit the road.”
I grabbed my briefcase, put my PDA in my pocket, and headed downstairs. I stuck my head into the sunroom long enough to tell Gran that we were leaving and why, then dashed to the garage with Philip at my heels. As soon as I was behind the wheel of the car, I handed Philip my PDA and asked him to look up the telephone numbers of Tom’s and Larry’s parents.
