Chapter One
LISA My life hasn't been the most eventful and alot of times I wondered what exactly my purpose on earth was. My mother believes I was destined to go to school, but somehow I believed the universe was telling me I wasn't destined to be educated after I got rejected by the same university twice. I wasn't really a bad student, not the greatest as well but my grades were good..but somehow not good enough for college. Early this year, I convinced myself that I would make the most of the year, already in August and I still didn't know where my life was heading to. The school I applied would be releasing admissions in December and I wasn't sure what I'd do with my life till then. My name is Lisa. I am an eighteen year old girl with dreams of being a billionaire buisness woman some day and no idea how to achieve that. I live in a small city called Cherry Top. Much like the name, Cherry Top is a very happy and peaceful community. Older people would often joke to youngsters about not getting caught up in the cherry of life that time passes them by. I was born and raised in Cherry Top by my mother after my dad passed away when I was eight. Sitting on my dramatically decorated chair, I pondered on my life with a book and a pen in my hand. I made a decision earlier to learn a skill but I wasn't sure what exactly I would go into so i wrote down every idea that came to mind. I stood up gently from the chair with the book still in my hands and began to pace around my square shaped bedroom. Just then my eyes went to the framed picture of Dad sitting on my dressing table, I stopped and picked it up admiring my father and imagining what life would have been like if he hadn't died from that car accident. I stared for a while and then a switch flipped in my brain and all I could think of was photography as I smiled to myself. That was definitely something I could do! and Immediately I rushed to my mum's bedroom. As usual, she wore her glasses and was typing on her laptop. That was something she does even on her off days. I believe it was her own way of dealing with the pain and loneliness she felt after Dad passed. She over worked herself and paid little attention to herself. Her hair was tied up in a pony tale and her brown eyes had dark circles underneath them, I really felt bad for my mum but I didn't know how to talk her out of her self imposed prison. It was evident that she missed Dad very badly, but I also wanted her to understand that she needs to move on with her life and there was so much more to life only if she gave herself the chance, plus she had me and I love her. I walked quietly into the room and was hit by how stuffed the room was. "Oh! mum! you haven't come out of this room today and your windows are still closed..my goodness! have you even had anything to eat?". I said and began to open the windows. "Lisa I'm fine, I had some apples. I have just been so busy with this project that the window skipped my mind" She gave me a small smile. I slowly evaluated her and she looked even paler after I opened the windows. "Mum please, do you want to leave me all alone in this cruel world? I won't let you fade away like this. No! No! never! I love you mum and it breaks my heart to see how you are living." I sat down beside her and gently rubbed her hair. "I am getting you some food and you would eat it. Do not protest". Her smiled widened and she kissed my cheek. "okay". Was all she said before I rushed to the kitchen.
