The only thing that improved Rhea’s morning was the face Bella made when she spotted the snow and ice outside the window. Did Rhea still shower? Yes, was she and Charlie up at the same time? Somehow, yes.
She made the man breakfast and lunch before he left.
“Snow is better than this,” Bella said sitting down at the dining table.
“Lovely morning?” Rhea asked looking up from where she was putting soup into bowels.
She was already making some for lunch, so why not make some for breakfast?
Bella narrowed her eyes, before saying, “eat snow and die.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, Bells,” she said.
“Rhea!”
“Anyway, Charlie’s gonna be busy, you know someone’s going to be stupid in this weather.”
“I worry about you sometimes.”
“I made soup for breakfast, along with making some for lunch and before you ask, yes, I made some for Charlie as well, along with black coffee that only cops drink.”
“Really?”
“Hope you don’t mind vegetable soup.”
“I’ll drive carefully,” Bella said.
“That would be a good idea, don’t know how much black ice is out there,” Rhea said.
Bella did drive carefully, which was one of the reasons they left earlier than they normally would have. Rhea was glad that she rarely spotted someone doing something stupid in this weather.
Speeding on ice was a one way ticket to the ED.
“Have you noticed that the boys here treat me differently,” Bella said after parking.
Rhea spotted Jasper, Alice and Edward for cars down.
“Maybe they just didn’t see the awkward stages.”
“Or it’s because you’re pretty, Bells,” Rhea said.
“Doubt it.”
“Or because you’re new, like how I had people asking me out on dates back at Pheonix for a day or two.”
“Then you’d tell them to get lost.”
“They learnt pretty quickly.”
“But your new Rhea.”
“I’m Greek and stand out.”
“You’re the pretty one... oh.”
“Bella?” Rhea asked walking around to Bella’s side of the truck, she hadn’t grabbed her bag before doing so, she had a sister to check in on. “What’s the matter.”
“Tires,” Bella said.
“Oh, that’s the reason he was up.”
“He must have been up before even you to get this done.”
Bella traced the chains with her finger, if there was one thing that Rhea noticed that Bella had gotten from her father.
It was that they were both awkward about gift giving, giving or receiving.
Like father, like daughter, Rhea thought.
Turning around as she heard a high-pitch noise, one that was high pitched enough to hurt her ears. It wasn’t hard to spot the large blue van coming towards them.
Without thinking, Rhea grabbed Bella and pulled her towards herself, turning around so her back would hit the van.
Rhea’s shoulders hitting the van’s door, she could hear glass breaking as she fall to the ground. Turning around as she fall, so Bella didn’t hit the ground.
The Achille’s Curse might mean she didn’t break anything, but it didn’t take away the pain. Didn’t stop the bruises from forming, and to think Hera, or Juno, wanted her to lose it when she entered New Rome.
Well, Hera thought she was an i***t and forgot that Rhea could walk on water and she had shoes on. Why on this green earth would she go through the water, when it was easier to walk over it.
Did it rival she was Neptune’s daughter? Yes. Was it the reason that the Roman camp knew she was Greek? Also yes.
But it had ruined Hera’s plan and that would always make her happy. Considering she picked a weak spot that no one would have thought of.
Actually, but that point in her life. She hadn’t slept or eaten for a few weeks and all her f***s to give had flown away.
Hazel and Frank had vouched for her when Octavian was trying to have kicked out. She missed those two, they were as cute as Nico, Will and Jake.
“Bella? Rhea?” Edward asked.
Rhea opened her eyes, he was standing over them.
“Bells?” Rhea asked.
“Rhea?” Bella asked pushing herself up, “are you okay? Rhea?”
“I’m sore,” Rhea said, “what the hell happened.”
“You protect me from being hit by a truck,” Bella said.
“You would’ve been a pancake,” Rhea said.
“An ambulance is coming,” Alice said.
Rhea looked at her.
Jasper was talking to someone on the phone.
“Rhea, you got to keep your head still,” Alice said, “don’t move, we don’t know if anything’s broken.”
“Someone get Taylor out of the van,” someone shouted.
Rhea wanted to close her eyes, but someone had put a hand on her shoulder and that feeling went away.
“Bella. Rhea,” Charlie shouted running up to them.
She thought she could hear sirens in the distance, but her attention was being spilt between her and the snow melting and healing her wounds.
Along with Bella, Charlie and Alice, along woth Edward and Jasper.
Jasper was the one who placed his hand on her shoulder.
“Rhea hurt her back and her sides,” Alice said to an EMT.
Jasper carefully picked her up and placed her on the stretcher. She was shocked that the EMT didn’t say anything to him about it.
“Bella might have hit her head,” Rhea said after a neck brace was put on, “she’s taller than I am.”
“Alice is taller than you,” Bella said.
“Come on, Bells, suffer with me.”
“Fine,” Bella said.
Edward picked her up, putting her onto another strectcher.
“Are they going to be okay?” Angelia asked Alice.
Rhea blinked closing her eyes and drifting off.
--
Rhea had slept through the entire ride to the ED room, as well as through her x-rays to make sure nothing was broken. She felt bad for the paramedics since she couldn’t tell them that neddles didn’t go through her skin.
She hoped Charlie told them before they drove off.
Waking up, she spotted Bella and a male she couldn’t put a name to.
“Bella, Rhea. I’m so sorry,” he said.
Rhea blinked.
“We’re dine, Taylor, Rhea has no brain bleeding and her neck is fine,” Bella said, “I’ve been cleared as well.”
“You look f*****g awful,” Rhea said.
He had cuts on his face, those would must likely need stiching or medical hot glue.
“That must have been broken glass I heard.”
“I thought I was going to kill you two, I was going too fast and I hit the ice at a bad angle,” Taylor said looking between them, “you were there, then you were gone and I thought you were dead. Then Edward, Alice and Jasper ran over, between them they moved the van.”
“Speeding in this weather? That was stupid,” Rhea said frowning, “who the f**k taught you to drive?”
“Rhea,” Bella said, “be nice.”
“I am nice, I just the young man learnt a lession about what happens when you speed on ice and snow, next someone might be so lucky,” Rhea said.
Taylor was lucky that Rhea was the way she was, or else she and Bella would have died.
“He missed,” Bella said.
“How did you get of the way?” Taylor asked, “one minute you were there and the next you were gone.”
“You’ve said that,” Rhea said, “and f**k if I remember.”
“They must have put some good painkillers into that feeding tube,” Bella said.
“Someone told them about the needles?” Rhea asked.
“Dad did,” Bella said.
“Miss Jackson, Miss Swan,” Carlisle said walking into the room, “I was hoping not to see you so soon after our appointment.”
“What can I say?” Rhea asked shrugging her shoulder, they had wrapped the other one to stop her moving it, “Lady Luck, Tyche, has turned her back on me today, or I somehow pissed her off. I’m good at that.”
“You and me both,” Bella said, “apart from the pissing the goddess off, how do you do that?”
“Depends on the goddess, but mouthing off usually works,” Rhea said.
“I am so sorry,” Taylor said.
Rhea narrowed her eyes.
“Rhea, be nice,” Bella said.
“No,” Rhea said.
“You two are fine, keep an eye on each other and return if anything happens,” Carlisle said looking at their x-rays.
Rhea knew her injuries wouldn’t more than skin deep, they never were.
“How many people are in the waiting room?” Bella asked.
Carlisle took the feeding tube out of Rhea’s nose, along with the neck brace.
“The entire school,” Carlisle admitted.
“Well great,” Rhea said.
Sighing, she looked around before getting to her feet and helping Bella up. If they were anything like the campers from Camp Half-blood, then they wouldn’t leave until they knew Bella was safe and sound.
Taylor would need to stay longer.
It wasn’t her problem, nor did she care what happened to him. Now she knew she was being slightly butter, but no one tried to hurt those she cared about and got away with it.
No one.
“Come on, Bells, might as well face the music,” Rhea said.
Rhea spotted Edward and Alice talking to Charlie.
“Are you two okay?” Charlie asked.
“All cleared,” Rhea said, “we’ll have to take easy for the rest of the week; shock is a horrid thing to deal with.”
“I’ll take you two home,” Charlie said.
“I can drive Bella’s truck back after picking up their homework,” Alice offered.
“That’s fine, Rhea, Bells, let’s get going,” Charlie said.
Bella nodded handing Alice the keys, they must have been in her pocket the entire time.
--
“Are you going to tell me what happened?” Bella asked.
Charlie had already left for work.
“You might not believe me,” Rhea said.
She and Bella were adults could look after themselves.
“It’s going to be hard to believe, Poseidon knows that Racheal had a hard time believing it,” Rhea said, “so I’m gonna I’m gonna need this.”
Rhea showed the glass of water before putting it on the floor, she was just glad she had the forethought to bring it, even if she just planned on drinking it.
Bella was smart.
“A glass of water,” Bella asked.
“I’m not fully human,” Rhea exaplained, water flowing up from the glass and around her arm, “I’m a femigod, a daughter of Neptune and Poseidon. I’ve hosted an Egyptian Goddess in my body and fought Loki on the ship of the dead.”
“But Neptune and Poseidon are both male,” Bella said.
“If there’s one thing you should know about the Greek and Roman Gods, it’s don’t question it. Not worth the headache.”
“Noted.”
Rhea sat down on Bella’s bed, waiting for her to sit down next to her before telling her what happened the day she found out what she was. About how Luke had betrayed them, the Titan War and Giant War. About how she had met Sadie and Carter Kane, helping Magnus and Annabeth Chase out.
Training a Norse Demigod to surivive before just out right helping him herself, him and Alex cause they were the best part of that mess.
“To think, you’re only seventeen,” Bella said.
“The world is full of things that can’t be explained, it makes life harder,” Rhea said.
“Like the Cullens and the Hales.”
“You know it.”
“So Annabeth? I don’t like her.”
“Well, she doesn’t like me either.”
“Because Poseidon and Athena don’t get along.”
“Bingo.”
“That’s stupid.”
“Don’t worry, I get along with the rest of her siblings.”
“The anti-techology thing is because you don’t want to be tracked down and attacked.”
Rhea nodded, “we’re waiting for technology to be created that’s safe to use.”
“What a mess,” Bella said, “and the reason you’re bones aren’t broken is because the Achille’s Curse.”
“I could use some painkillers, but yea pretty much.”
“You have to look out for your ankle?”
“I have a weak spot, but it’s not my ankle.”
“And you’re not going to tell me where it is.”
“Nope,” Rhea said.
She was not telling Bella that she picked her left pupil to be her weak spot. Rhea hadn’t told anyone, can’t get information that you don’t have.
“I protect a fake spot, so people think it’s there,” Rhea said.
“And the fake spot?” Bella asked.
“Lower back.”
“That would be hard to protect.”
“Tyson made my armour thicker in that spot, harder to get stabbed if there’s medal in the way.”
“How many of the myths are real?”
“Who knows, the world is full of strange things.”
