Pair of star crossed lovers?

Alina Lopez calmly walked through the hallways of the office taking in her sorroundings as she moved, exchanging greetings with whoever she met on the way. Finally reaching her destination,she stood in front of the door bracing herself and then she put on her signature smile then knocks. "Come in".she heard a male voice says from the inside.she breathe in and gently opened the door. She was greeted with a man sitting gracefully on his chair looking good as he always did,his focus on the paper he was holding with a frown on his face.she gently closed the door before walking closer to him."Coffee".she asked handling the cup she was holding to him. "Thank you".he said as he collects the cup from her and took a sip. "Is there anything I can help with?".alina asked as she watched him. "Take a seat first".the man said to which alina obeyed by seating down on the chair opposite him."You remember that there's this company I want to partner with right?". Alina nodded."yes,I do remember". "Well I just received a letter from the company and their CEO has agreed to meet with me". "Okay".alina said but she noticed the expression on his face."is there something wrong?". "There's a company dinner party that I have to attend because another partner of our company is hosting it but unfortunately it's on the same day with the meeting I have with the CEO of the company I have yet to partner with". Alina could understand why he was worried.it took him a month to get a response from the company and finally the CEO has agreed to meet him and arranged a meeting on the day,his already partner was hosting a party which he must go otherwise it would be bad for the partnership between the two companies. "Is there anything we can do?".she asked."is there a solution?". "Unless I spilt myself into two which is impossible,I haven't been able to figure out a solution yet". "Is it mandatory that you attend the party?.maybe you can get someone else to go in your stead". alina suggested. Although she made the suggestion,she didn't think that it would work.she only made the statement for speaking case.But, "Hmmm".she could see that the male was actually considering it. "I think it might work".he nodded."why don't you go instead?.you are a better option". "No".she was quick to disagree."I don't think it's a good idea I go.maybe someone else...".she said hoping he would choose someone else. But to her disappointment,he didn't."You are okay". "Am not okay". alina said."I am very not okay".she nods at her speech."please choose someone else.someone who is perfectly okay because I am not okay". "You shouldn't belittle yourself alina.you have great potential,I can see that.can't you see it?". he said."besides you are the one I trust the most in this company". Alina could only shake her head at his words.she wasn't belittling herself at all,she had plans made already, important ones at that. "It's decided alina".he said."you are going". alina didn't try to argue, she could only blame herself for speaking."you can take your leave". Alina stood up dejectedly ,made a few movements then turned back."you really won't choose someone else?". "No".he said.his mind was made up. "Okay".alina finally walked out of the office. ******** "What's up babe?". alina glanced at the female in front of her.she was wearing a white crop top and a jean trouser to match it with her dark blue wavy hair that passed her shoulders. "Hey chole". alina said half heartedly and chole was quick to notice. "What's wrong?".chole asked concerned. "I won't be able to go with you on a picnic this weekend". "Why?". chole said frowning. "I have to go to a party". "What nonsense are you saying?".chole asked."you are going to abandon your best friend for a party?". Alina shrugged."I was forced to".she decided to shift the blame to her boss."it's a decision made by my boss so I have no choice but to obey". "I really hate that boss of yours".chole said groaning."he always ruin my plans". Alina nodded thinking about the outfit to wear."what do I wear?". "Clothes,of course". chole said as a matter of fact."what else?". "No.not that".alina shakes her head."I mean the right gown to wear to the party". "It depends on the dress code". chole said."is there a dress code?". "No". "Then is it a big party?". "It's a company dinner party". alina said."not sure if it's gonna be a big one". "You know what?.just wear anything you see".chole said suddenly fed up with the whole discussion. "Okay". alina said. The days passed by quickly and soon it was the weekend.alina decided to go buy a dress that would be appropriate after much thought that morning. She tried on dresses for a while but couldn't pick one.there was always a reason,either the gowns were too short or too revealing. She almost gave up while her eyes caught a black gown.it was a v-neck with beads arranged on the neck,it was a quarter length gown,with a black net veil placed around it. It was simple and non revealing which was perfect. "I will like to try this on".she said pointing to the black dress. The attendant brought the gown to alina, and alina tried on the gown.she checked herself in the mirror liking what she saw."I will take this one". The attendant nodded and wrapped the gown inside a bag for alina.she paid for the gown with the company card and finally exit the store. ************ Soon the evening came and it was time for the party.just as alina was getting dressed,her boss called her. "Hello". "Are you there?". "Soon". alina said. "Please do not be late".she could hear the plead in his voice. "I won't". alina said.she was almost done,she would be leaving the house few minutes later. "Alright then.i will call you later".her but boss said.alina said nothing else and ended the call. Few minutes later, alina was ready to leave the house.she locked her door, called a taxi to the venue. Alina arrived at the venue feeling a little anxious.it was her first time attending a business party alone.she walked in a graceful manner not wanting to make a mistake,not that she cared much about her reputation but she couldn't afford to ruin the company's. Perhaps because of her looks or the way she walked,few heads turned towards her direction.she walked to where the server was to get a drink. "Do you have fruit juice?".she asked. "Not sure they do".a deep voice suddenly said behind her startling alina.she turned and the first thing she saw was his lips. 'jeez,why his lips'.alina scolded herself inside.her eyes left his lips to his light blue eyes,then to his black hair then finally his handsome face. 'a good looking dude'. "Hmm".the male's cough brought alina back to her senses as she realized that she had been staring. "Umm..hi". alina said."I guess".she added awkwardly then forced out a small laugh. "you are beautiful".his voice sounded more deep as he said causing alina to stare at him again in surprise. Alina didn't expect him to be so straight forward."You are handsome".she commented as that was the only response she could think of as she continued to stare at him. He moved closer to her,his face few inches away from her face as he speaks."I am?".he asked as he stared back. "You don't know?". alina asked trying do hard not to blush."no one has ever told you that?".she made sure to act as if she wasn't affected by him at all. "Hmmm".he nods."you are the first one".he could see through alina's facade.he knew the effects he had on her. "Really?". alina asked with a doubt."it's an honor then".she added although she didn't believe that no ever praised his looks. "Yes".he smiled briefly as he leaned closer to her."so be the first in everything then".he said then captured her lips. They kissed!.
