The Elevator - Chapter Nine
"How long do you think we're going to be here?" Silver asked Indigo, as they lay themselves out on the grass, in the sun, working on their sun tans.
"How will we explain our tans, when we get back?" Indigo said answering the question, with a question, as she didn't really know the answer, she knew Silver wanted. Plus she remembered although the weather was absolutely beautiful here, back where it had been it was currently winter.
"We could always say we used the sun beds" Silver offered, "People would buy that"
"Well they're not going to believe we've been spending time with Robin Hood and his merry men, are they?"
"Again?" Indigo asked, as she looked around her to see her friends all looking past her, she turned back around and saw, the side of the castle they were all looking at.
"Why aren't we making it back to the shopping mall?" Silver asked
"If we knew that, this wouldn't be a problem" Toby sarcastically answered,
"Where do you think we are now?" Indigo asked them
"Who knows? We just got to hope it's going to be a friendly place" Jacob remarked,
"I told ya, we should have stayed with Robin, at least we knew a bit about him" Toby told them
"You would have chosen to stay there for ever, if you could have" Silver pointed out.
"He's a legend of course I would have" he answered, that was his defending reason, the only one he had. He sat himself down on the grass, while the other three decided what they were going to do next, he knew whatever it was he would end up following them, even if it meant trouble was the result. They couldn't risk losing anyone.
"This is the coolest thing that could have ever happened" Toby stated absolutely beaming with happiness, drawing back his bow, taking lessons with Robin Hood himself, this was his literal dream come true.
"You would think that" Jacob grumbled, not doing so well at his training, "I think the girls are bored and want to find their way back and to be honest, i don't think it's a bad idea either" Jacob told him.
"Where has everyone's sense of adventure gone?"
"It was nearly eaten by dinosaurs and taken down by Robin Hood, how much adventure do we need in our lives?" Jacob grumbled, "Not to mention putting up with Silver's moaning, It's a lot to handle" he added. Remembering it had been the first thing he had heard this morning.
"Well we could always leave her behind" Toby joked.
"It took us long enough to find her" Jacob reminded him
"Oh, yeah"
"What do you think the guys are doing?" Silver asked Indigo
"Toby really wanted to learn archery and seeing as that's what Robin is really good at, he took them to teach them"
"Archery?" Silver asked confused
"Yeh' you know the bow and arrow thing, something about Robin being his hero and all that jazz" Indigo said gently, trying to get more comfortable, where she was sitting, the grass smelt fresh and looked greener than she had ever seen it look.
The whole day was a nice relaxing day for everyone, Toby had spent the day learning more about Robin than he had ever thought possible.
"He's been talking the ears off of Robin all day" Jacob noticed, as the three of them sat around the fire waiting for the boar to cook, Robin's men were talking among themselves. Toby walked over to them noticing them for the first time tonight.
"Guys I have had the best day of my life" He announced, sitting himself next to Silver, who moved over for him.
"If you call, archery fun" She said less enthusiastically than Toby hoped.
"Come on guys, this era is cool, it beats being chased down by dinosaurs, so why aren't you thrilled about this as I am" He asked them unable to hide his enthusiasm.
"Maybe because we want to get back to our era" Silver responded
"Why so fast? When here is really cool" Toby questioned
"For you maybe" Indigo said shaking her head at him.
"Looks like tomorrow we're looking for the gate, mate" Jacob let him know.
"Really?" he asked, all three of them nodded in agreement with one another more,
"We need to go back to our own time, before we change to much of history" Jacob informed him, trying not to sound like a spoil sport, but realistically they didn't know how much being trapped here was changing history.
The next morning they said their goodbyes to Robin and his merry men, Toby was thrilled to bits as Robin had given him a bow and arrow of his own, as a present. They set off deeper into the forest and searched many zones looking for the gate,
"Yep, I found it" Jacob announced.
"Are we holding hands again?" Toby asked
"Probably wise too" Indigo answered. Without much thought they held hands and walked through the door.
"Where do you think we are now?" Indigo asked them
"Who knows? We just got to hope it's going to be a friendly place" Toby told them
"You would have chosen to stay there forever, if you could have." He answered, that was his defending reason, the only one he had. He sat himself down on the grass, while the other three decided what they were going to do next, he knew whatever it was he would end up following them, even if it meant trouble was the result. They couldn't risk losing anyone.
"So what's our plan of action?" Jacob asked curiously.
"Shall we investigate? Or just look for the gate?" Indigo asked, she wanted to go and investigate, she loved anything to do with castles and had never been to one that was in good working order, the ones she had only ever been to were the castle ruins. She felt excited just at looking at the stone walls of one, so she was hoping that they would want to investigate.
"I'd just like to go back to the mall, pick up a new sweater and just chill without the thought of being in danger from something." Silver answered,
"Why don't you just give up with this sweater clearly you're not meant to have it?" Jacob remarked.
