The Elevator - Chapter Eight
"ARGH" Silver screamed, "Help me" she pleaded to Indigo, Indigo took a step forward to go and help her friend.
"Don't move" The lead horseman told her, he was dressed in lincoln olive green clothing, which did look rather weathered, he was wearing black wrist armour a bow and arrow was in his hands as he looked at them all individually. Indigo's eyes met his for a moment, while she was debating whether to listen or just to go and help Silver out. She chose to stay where she was. He had brown longish hair, with brown eyes and was very well built, she noted to herself.
Both Jacob and Toby were frozen to the spots they were in, obviously not wanting to push their luck with the stranger either.
"Marvellous" Indigo muttered under her breath sarcastically, clearly unimpressed with the situation they had just found themselves in.
"Who are you?" The guy on the horse asked as he was getting down from the horse, he walked over to indigo first, with a little sword in his hand, as Indigo had no self defense training, she stood exactly as she was, not wanting to move just in case he used a weapon on her.
"My name is Indigo" She answered, sounding a lot better than she felt inside.
"Unusual name" The guy replied
"A lot of this is unusual for us too, trust me on that"
"How, do you mean?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you, just know we don't wish anybody any harm" She said
"Your clothing, you're not from this neck of the words." He noticed.
"Trespassers" Another guy on one of the other horses declared.
"Would appear so" The guy in front of her replied.
"Look, I'm Indigo, this is Jacob, Toby and my friend over there, stuck to the tree, that's Silver. We're from a place really far away" She tried to explain, not wanting to sound like a lunatic at the same time, although it would have been the truth, she didn't believe this stranger would believe her.
"Obviously" He said. "So where are you heading?" he asked curiously
"We don't really know, until we find the right place" She replied knowing the answer probably wasn't the greatest one, but it was all she had, that didn't mention time traveling and mystery gates.
"You seem the talkative one" He said. she looked at him for a moment trying to work out whether he was being nice or whether he was going to be meaner.
"Course she is, she isn't stuck to a tree" Silver retorted, "This has ruined my sweater" she added clearly annoyed.
"Oh man, he didn't, you know were gonna hear about that all the time were here now" Toby whispered to Jacob, knowing exactly how Silver was.
"I know, but he doesn't" Jacob laughed seeing the funny side of it.
"You know our names, what is yours?" Indigo asked him, curiously.
"Robin of sherwood"
"Is that where we are?" Jacob asked
"Whoa, you mean your Robin hood?" Toby asked him, "You're kidding me right?"
"No Tobe' he isn't, look how he's dressed, how we never picked up on that, i have no idea" Jacob replied
"No way, this is cool" Toby announced, feeling less threatened, as a child he had always thought that one day he was going to be as cool as Robin hood, he idolized him so much, he believed he was going to be him..
"Really? You're a Robin hood fan" Jacob enquired, taken by surprise.
"Of course I was, how weren't you?" Toby asked, totally star struck. "You are a legend back home" he informed Robin
"Pardon?" Robin looked at him confused
"It's true you all are, Friar Tuck, Big John and Will Scarlet" Toby announced.
"Isn't there a rule back home, that you aren't to reveal too much or you could change history" Indigo remarked
"It should be re-written he never deserved what happened to him" Toby shared
"Toby" Jacob warned, "She's right you know" he added looking at his friend, Toby looked at them all one by one,
"It's the real Robin hood though" he said, wanting everyone to share his enthusiasm.
"Err...Hello...When you've all stopped nattering could someone please get me down from here" Silver moaned.
"Can I?" Indigo asked Robin himself
"How do you all know of me?" he asked her
"You're a legend that's how!?" Toby remarked.
"Toby, your oversharing again" Jacob reminded him
"Well he deserves to know that" he answered
"'You may let your friend down" Robin told Indigo. She didn't waste any time, she ran straight over to Silver and removed the arrow that was well stuck in the tree.
"Never thought I would be doing this" She admitted to Silver
"I wish we weren't, my sweater is ruined" She complained
"I know but you still have your life which is much more important." Indigo reminded her friend.
"It would have been good to have my sweater in one piece too, I've already lost some shoes, it's meant to be a shopping trip" adding, "Not this"
"None of us thought this would happen with our day, did we" Indigo reminded her, "But on the plus side, we get to know Robin hood." she added enthusiastically.
"Fine you must come with us tonight, we will have a feast." Robin announced, he was taken back by the way they had responded to his name, he had never considered himself as a legend, he just liked helping people and the only way he could do that was with what he was doing, stealing from the rich to help the poor. Even if that meant getting himself in trouble, he cared more for the people who were left stranded with nothing, when they couldn't afford their homes anymore.
"You say where you're from I am a legend" He finally said, he had been sitting on the log, lost in thought, in front of the camp fire, where they were cooking the boar they had hunted down for dinner.
"That's because you are" Toby assured him, still in awe of his childhood hero. "What you do for people is not going to go unnoticed!" he added.
"See Robin, we are good" Frair said.
"Shows we're on the right path" Big John added
"Specially if their talking about you from somewhere far away." Frair added.
'You are defiantly doing good." Toby reassured them.
