Chapter 5
Jen grabbed Sonny by the arm and helped him sit up on the side of the bed. “See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?”
Jen pulled the walker and the IV caddy around next to him. She knelt down and slipped some walking socks on Sonny’s feet. “We’re about ready.”
Sonny looked up. Her eyes were bright and cheery, and her smile was as broad as the Pacific Ocean. The vibrant blue color of her eyes was just as deep as the water and caught Sonny’s attention. He couldn’t help but manage a small smile.
Jen gave his arm a tug. Sonny wobbled a bit but managed to stand upright. He looked at her with a sense of hope.
“Work your legs up and down a few times; then we’ll see how you walk.”
Sonny barely got his feet off the floor as he stood trying to walk in place. Jen knelt down and massaged one
