Chapter 6
After very little to eat and a nearly sleepless night, Robbie stood watching while four ladies carried Ronnie’s body out of the barn and put him back in the Jeep. They fueled Robbie’s Jeep up first thing, and he was set to head back to Peaceful Valley.
Sean kissed Brenda and Kim at the door and joined Robbie. “We’ll be there later this afternoon. You know we wouldn’t miss the funeral. I have a few things to take care of while the girls are packing. We’ll load up right after lunch and be there as soon as we can.”
Robbie checked the ropes securing the tarp and crawled in the front seat. With teary eyes, he gave Sean’s hand an open slap, waved at the girls at the front door, and headed out.
