Betrayed by a Lover

Sona now understood everything, and for the first time, it all made sense.

It had never been an accident.

The attack that happened on her journey to the Dragon Kingdom had been carefully planned. It was never fate that stopped her from reaching the dragons.

It had all been the work of humans working together with the Red Snake.

Tears streamed down Sona's face as she remembered the last words her mother had spoken before her death.

Her mother had warned her never to trust humans. For generations, humans had been the greatest enemies of the Serpent Kingdom. They had always found ways to betray the serpent race whenever an opportunity presented itself.

For years, Sona had honored her mother's warning.

Everything changed the day she met Patel.

He was kind, charming, and impossible to resist. Despite everything she had been taught, she had fallen deeply in love with him.

Little did she know that history was repeating itself.

The same fate that had destroyed her parents was now unfolding before her very eyes.

The Red Snake truly was a genius.

His first move had been to give the humans a colorless medicine that weakened serpents without them realizing it. Once Sona had been exposed to it, her powers had slowly disappeared until she could no longer defend herself.

"What have I done to deserve this?" Sona cried, hoping that someone would pity her enough to let her go.

She had no idea what was really going through their minds.

None of them cared about her life.

They wanted only two things.

The Snake Charm.

And a few drops of her royal blood.

Those two things alone would grant them unimaginable power.

As for Patel.

The painful truth was that he truly loved her.

However, his hunger for power was greater than his love.

If forced to choose between love and power, he would always choose power.

Without warning, the Red Snake transformed from his human appearance into his true form.

A gigantic crimson serpent stood before her.

The sight alone filled Sona with terror.

She remembered that same serpent.

It was the creature she had seen standing over her father's lifeless body all those years ago.

Hatred and fear rushed through her at the same time.

This was the monster responsible for countless deaths in her kingdom.

"Patel... are you really going to let him hurt me?" she cried desperately.

She knew she had very little power left.

If the Red Snake took what remained, her life would be over.

Her soul would be dragged before the ancestors, where she would remain imprisoned until the end of time.

The Red Snake slowly slithered toward her.

Sona struggled against the invisible force holding her in place, but it was useless.

The spell surrounding her was far stronger than anything she had ever encountered.

She couldn't move.

She couldn't fight.

She couldn't even transform.

"Stop wasting your strength," the Red Snake hissed.

"The medicine already did its work. Whatever little power you had left is gone."

He wrapped his enormous body around her, squeezing tighter with every passing second.

Sona turned her tear-filled eyes toward the two men she had trusted with her whole heart.

"Patel... Marvin... please save me," she pleaded.

"I am the future queen of the Serpent Kingdom."

Her voice had become weak.

Every breath felt heavier than the last.

She could feel her strength slipping away

"I'm sorry," Patel finally said quietly.

"But I love myself more than I could ever love you."

His words shattered what remained of her heart.

She had hoped....

Even if only a little-

That he would change his mind.

That he would remember the love they had shared and save her.

Instead, he looked at her with nothing but greed.

"My mission was always to capture someone from your kingdom," Patel admitted.

"I wanted the powers that belong to the royal serpents."

His eyes glittered with ambition.

"You were simply the easiest way to get them."

Tears rolled freely down Sona's cheeks.

Everything had been a lie.

Every smile.

Every promise.

Every embrace.

Every kiss.

It had all been part of a carefully planned betrayal.

"Goodbye, my love," Patel said with a cruel smirk before walking away with Marvin.

Neither of them looked back.

They left her alone with the Red Snake.

The giant serpent tightened his grip around her one final time.

"Goodbye, Queen Serpent," he mocked.

Darkness slowly consumed her vision.

That was the last thing Sona remembered before losing consciousness.

Back to the Present

"Unbelievable..." Sona said through clenched teeth.

"You did all that just to destroy me."

Her voice echoed across the rooftop as she tightened her grip around Richard.

Richard stared at her with complete confusion.

"I... I don't understand what you're talking about," he stammered.

Sona looked directly into his frightened eyes.

"That look tells me you don't remember."

She tightened her coils around his body until he gasped for breath.

"You..."

"And the others..."

"You all betrayed me."

The moment those words left her mouth, Richard's eyes widened in horror.

Fragments of long-forgotten memories began returning to him.

His face turned pale.

"You finally remember, don't you?" Sona asked coldly.

"Yes... it's me."

"The woman whose life you all destroyed."

"I remember everything."

"Every lie."

"Every betrayal."

"Every tear."

"I've returned to take revenge on everyone who played even the smallest part in destroying my family and my kingdom."

Richard's entire body trembled.

"Please..." he begged.

"Please forgive me."

He knew there was nowhere to run.

No one was coming to save him.

Sona remembered every painful year she had spent pleading with the ancestors for another chance.

Another chance to correct her mistakes.

Another chance to reclaim her kingdom.

Another chance to avenge her parents.

Most of all.

Another chance to make up for the greatest mistake of her life.

Falling in love with a human.

The memories filled her with unbearable rage.

Every bit of mercy disappeared from her heart.

She tightened her massive coils around Richard with all her strength.

His desperate screams echoed across the rooftop before gradually fading away.

A few moments later...

Silence.

Sona loosened her grip.

Richard's lifeless body fell heavily onto the rooftop.

She looked at him without a single trace of pity.

"At least one of them is dead," she whispered.

A satisfied smile slowly appeared on her face.

This was only the beginning.

Her revenge had finally begun.

And she would not stop until every person responsible for destroying her family, betraying her kingdom, and stealing her destiny had paid the price.

One by one.

They would all fall.
