The Banishment

~Sona POV~ The journey back to our universe took only six seconds. Six seconds. That was all it took to leave behind everything I had come to know in the human world—Patel, his warmth, his laughter, the life I had started to believe could be mine. In less time than it takes for a heartbeat to settle, I was no longer there. We moved through realms using the sacred power granted by Lord Shanghan, a power only bestowed upon the rightful heir to the serpent throne. I felt it surge through me as we traveled ancient, overwhelming, and familiar. It meant something important. The gods had not abandoned me. Despite everything despite the six months I had spent living among humans, loving one of them the gods had not stripped me of my birthright. They had not turned their backs on me. That realization alone should have brought me comfort. But it didn’t. Because as soon as we arrived, I felt it. Something was wrong. The air in the serpent kingdom was heavy—thick with tension, fear, and something darker. The castle, once alive with movement and reverence, now felt… hollow. Without wasting another second, I rushed through the grand halls, my footsteps echoing against the cold stone floors as I made my way toward the inner chambers where my father lay. When I entered, my heart nearly shattered. There he was. The Serpent King. My father. He lay coiled in his full serpent form, his massive body stretched across the sacred resting platform. His scales, once radiant and powerful, now looked dull and lifeless. His breathing was slow… uneven. In our kingdom, we only remained in our serpent forms during extreme illness—when the body could no longer sustain the transformation into human shape. This was bad. Worse than I had imagined. “Father…” My voice broke as I rushed forward, dropping to my knees beside him. “Can you hear me? I’m here… I’m right here. Please… don’t leave me.” Tears streamed uncontrollably down my face as I reached out, my trembling hand resting gently against his scales. He didn’t move. Didn’t respond. Fear clawed its way into my chest. Then- “Perform the ritual and save his soul.” The voice was not physical. It echoed inside me. Ancient. Commanding. Lord Shanghan. I froze for only a moment before I understood. The ritual. Of course. There was still a chance. My hands trembled as I raised my arm. Without hesitation, I made a deep cut across my left forearm. Pain shot through me, but I didn’t stop. Then I leaned forward and made a matching cut along my father’s tail. Blood. Royal blood. It began to mix. The moment it did, the chamber filled with a blinding light so intense that I had to shut my eyes tightly. The energy surged around us, ancient magic awakening, binding us in a sacred connection. For a moment, I couldn’t see. Couldn’t think. Only feel. Then- Silence. The light faded. I slowly opened my eyes. “Father…?” Movement. He moved. “Father, you’re awake!” I cried, relief flooding through me as fresh tears fell down my cheeks. “I thought.I thought I lost you…” Instinctively, I shifted my position, preparing to bow in respect. He was still my king. But before I could lower myself— “Don’t do it.” His voice thundered through the chamber. Cold. Sharp. Unfamiliar. “You are unholy.” The words hit me like a physical blow. I froze. “W-what…?” My voice came out barely above a whisper. “What are you saying, Father?” Confusion swirled violently inside me. “I have done nothing wrong,” I tried to explain, my heart pounding. “I came back I’m here” “You are a liar!” he roared, his massive body suddenly shifting. Before I could react, he lunged forward, his enormous coils wrapping tightly around me, trapping me in place. I gasped as the pressure crushed against my ribs. “You will pay,” he hissed, his voice dripping with fury, “for the torture and misery you have brought upon this kingdom… and upon me.” My mind raced. Torture? Misery? What was he talking about? “I don’t understand!” I struggled against his grip, but in my human form, I was far too weak. “I don’t know what you mean!” “Silence!” he snapped. His hold tightened. Pain exploded through my body. “If you were not a hypocrite,” he continued, his voice rising with rage, “you would never have fallen in love with a human!” My heart stopped. So that was it. “Father, please you misunderstand!” I pleaded desperately, struggling for air. My vision began to blur. “It’s not what you think” “I wonder why you still argue,” he interrupted coldly. I felt his fangs press against my forehead. Cold. Deadly. “I will make you an outcast,” he declared. “Rejected by all. I will strip you of your powers everything that makes you who you are.” “No!” Panic surged through me. “You can’t do that! I am the rightful heir—I am the next queen! Without my powers, I cannot rule—I cannot avenge Mother!” For a split second, I hoped. Hoped he would remember. Hoped he would hesitate. But instead- “We have proof,” he said, his voice dark and final. “You have sided with humans. That makes you a traitor… not only to me, but to the gods themselves.” His fangs struck. Pain ripped through my entire being. I screamed And then everything collapsed. The moment my body hit the ground, I lost control of my human form. I shifted back into my true self a serpent, but I was too weak to move. Too weak to fight. I let out a weak hiss, my body trembling as I looked up at him. And that’s when I saw it. Something was wrong. Very wrong. His color. It was changing. The familiar tones of my father’s scales twisted… darkened… Turning red. My breath caught. No. No. This wasn’t him. My father- was not a red serpent. We didn’t have red serpents in our kingdom. Cold realization settled over me. That thing… was not my father. Despite the weakness in my body, something inside me ignited. Survival. Instinct. The right to rule had not yet been stripped from me. And that meant I still had power. Summoning the last of my strength, I tapped into the hidden magic my mother had left within me,a secret gift, buried deep in my blood. In an instant- I vanished. Reappearing within the inner chamber. The Mirror of Foresee. I shifted back into my human form, my chest rising and falling rapidly as I approached it. “Lord Shanghan…” I whispered, my voice trembling. “Show me the truth.” The mirror flickered. Then came alive. And what it revealed… broke me. I saw it. Everything. My father the real king being betrayed. Murdered. Not by enemies. But by those he trusted most. My stomach twisted in horror as I watched them bring in outsiders—serpents from unknown kingdoms, their intentions clear. They wanted power. They wanted control. They wanted everything. And they had taken it. From us. From me. From my father. Tears streamed silently down my face as the vision faded. Rage replaced grief. Burning. Consuming. “I will not let this stand,” I whispered, my voice shaking with fury. “I will not let them destroy what my ancestors built.” I reached for the live spear—the sacred weapon of the royal bloodline. The moment my fingers wrapped around it, I felt strength returning. Purpose. Clarity. I turned toward the exit. I was going to end this. Right now. But before I could take a single step— Something struck me. Hard. I was thrown off balance as powerful coils wrapped around me once again, tightening instantly. “No—!” I struggled, but it was useless. I was dragged. Pulled away. The world blurred- And then- We were in the villa. The gathering place. The place of judgment. My heart sank. “No…” I whispered. I was bound. Helpless. Surrounded. Figures filled the space—serpents from across the kingdom, watching… judging… silent Above them- him. The red serpent. Still wearing my father’s face. “People of the kingdom,” his voice echoed, false authority dripping from every word. “You have all seen what has transpired.” I clenched my jaw, fury burning in my chest. “Do you see what your so-called queen has done?” he continued. “Betrayal. Treason. Alliance with our greatest enemy.” Murmurs spread. Doubt. Fear. No. They were believing him. “This leaves us with only one course of action,” he declared. “She must be banished.” My blood ran cold. “No—” I tried to speak, but I was silenced by the force holding me. “All her powers,” he went on, “will be stripped. Returned to creation itself.” My heart pounded violently. If that happened- I would lose everything. Not just my power. My identity. My existence as a serpent. Forever. The executioner approached. A cobra. Silent. Deadly. Final. I struggled one last time, but my strength was gone. Completely gone. The cobra struck. Once. Twice. Again. Twelve times. Each bite burned through me like fire, tearing away everything that made me who I was. My vision blurred. The world faded. And as darkness swallowed me whole… I felt it. Everything… slipping away. The cobra snake that does the banishment comes to me biting me twelve dots and that is the last that I understand since my facial expression fades.
