CHAPTER 6 The GI mafia in Frankfurt proved to be more vicious than Mark had bargained for. Even as a vice president, he was powerless to fight it. GI gave nobody credit for doing things they weren't paid to do. So, as the problems arose, he passed them up to the general manager and relaxed. Sutter griped. Well, so what! He didn't want him, and Mark didn't want this bloody job. He and some others in management thought Mark had been sent by London to edge Sutter out. An impression he did nothing to dispel.
