Sophie "You never fail to amuse me Sophie- " Oh good lord!, can't someone take a quite peaceful shower in this house?" I screamed out loud. "I still don't get why you would spend hours in the shower just to dress in rags." She pulled out a sarcastic laugh. That's Mel. My little sister. "I'll kill you when I get out of here Mel, leave me alone." I screamed. "I am getting late Sophie. My lectures are on in the next hour." "You would have thought about that before letting those words out of your filthy mouth." I said and smiled as I let the water fall on my fairy naked body. She groans and walked away. ******** Today is my day off so I'll just be at home. Watching my siblings getting ready to school makes me feel some type of way. I am happy and proud that I am able to give them something I always wanted to have but never gotten the chance to. Since Mama's death it has always been me and them against the world. Melanie and Morgan are the only family I am left with. Mel is in college taking Medicine and Morgan just joined highschool. Paying there school fees is one of the many battles I have to fight that's why I work twice a day and still got other side hustles I do. What I'm trying to say here is that I hardly have time to act my age. It has never been easy but I am not complaining. They are my responsibility and I shouldn't in any way feel as if they are a burden. Family comes first in my list. Always. " I can't believe I am going to school without lunch again."Morgan cried. "I'll advice you to finish your breakfast if you don't want to have problems with your belly,I still have rent to pay you know." I said adding another sandwich on his plate. "If Mama were here- "But she is not. Morgan it's about time you grow up and understand that things have changed." Mel cut him off and thanks to her. We all got affected by Mama's death but Morgan was affected the most. The two were so fond of each other I am not surprised if I see him acting that way. The truth is that he has never gotten over it. On the other hand Melanie has grown up to be the bravest,most beautiful and strongest woman I never thought she would become. Grief somehow changed her old ways, She is no longer the stubborn and spoilt brat she used to be. I am proud of her. Both of them. " My school fees is due Sophie," Mel reminded me. "How can I forget about that ?" I said smiling. The truth is that I had completely forgotten about it. With so much going on anyone could have. But I never wanted them to worry about it. About anything to be precise. "You better get going. I don't want you getting late. " I said handing over Morgan his bag pack. "We are already late, and that's because you spent five hours in the shower just to wear your usual baggy sweat pants." Mel mocks me again. "Not now Mel." I said with a commanding voice as I walked them out. "Sophie, I am not going to ask you to try dresses because that's too much for you, but at least start it off with some tight jeans. You look twice your age with those outfits." Mel gave me a concern look and bid me goodbye. "Yeah,yeah.... whatever Mel!!" I smacked. Who on earth does she think she is to tell me what to wear and what not to wear?. I slammed the door and just before I could get to my couch a knock on the door was heard. "My goodness Mel, what is it again. You are so stubborn." I opened the door and capped my mouth with my hands feeling embarrassed and smiling sheepishly. "I am sorry Benjamin, I thought it was my sister. Come on in." I knew why he came. " Its alright Mr's Sterling. I'll come around and stay some other time just wanted to let you know your rent is due." He said and left. Okay enough with the word 'due'. This is the second time I am hearing the word due in just one day. It was just the other day I paid him rent and now a month has gone? Just how fast does days come and go. If I didn't had so much on my plate then I would spend the day sleeping. My sleeping patterns changed and I never had normal sleeping hours like everyone. But it is what it is and we have to do what we have to do. I wrote a 'don't do anything stupid note' for my siblings ,packed my bag and took off. I work in the cafe during the day as a waitress and as a bartender in the most popular bar in town which pays most of my bills by the way. So that is a job that I would do anything to keep. Not so many people know about my job at the bar, not even Mel and Morgan. I keep it that way because I only have time to give my siblings the best and not let myself get affected by people's Judgements. Only Jayson and Eve know about it. Those two are my best friends who apparently, also turns out to be my neighbors. Okay, let me put it this way.
