For Enna Vale, her life comes to an end on the night of her best friend’s engagement party. Not because she loses her love, but because she witnesses a repulsive truth hidden behind the luxurious crystal chandeliers of the Grand Astoria Hotel. In a fit of rage, she accidentally bumps into David Johnson—the most arrogant and cold-hearted young CEO in the city—spilling expensive wine all over documents worth billions.

Enna thinks that is her last encounter with the “Devil in a Black Suit.” However, fate has a crueler plan.

With her mother’s life hanging in the balance due to astronomical surgery costs, the only door left open is VN Company—David’s firm. David doesn’t hire her out of pity; he wants to see how long a woman with sky-high pride can last before finally crumbling at his feet.

Amid office sabotage, betrayal by coworkers, and mysterious threatening messages targeting her family’s lives, Enna realizes one thing: VN Company isn’t just an office, but a battlefield. And David Johnson isn’t just a boss, but a strategist playing a deadly game.

“In my world, nothing is free, Enna. If I save your mother’s life, then in return... your life belongs to me.”

CHAPTER 1: THE RUINED NIGHT
The main hall of the Grand Astoria Hotel looks like a slice of heaven descended to earth. Thousands of crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling cast dazzling golden light, making every glass in the guests' hands sparkle like a jewelry. Classical piano music play softly, floating between the scent of expensive perfume and premium cigarrretes. In the corner of the room, Enna Vale squeezes the rim of her glass. She feels like an alien on an alien planet. Her simple, yet elegant, black dress stands out among the designer gowns costing hundreds of millions of rupiah. She has come for one reason only: Serena. Her childhood friend, who is getting engaged to a business heir tonight. "Enna, why is your face so tense?" asked one of their work patner. "It's just... too crowded," Enna replied curtly. Her voice is flat, typical of her cool, no-nonsense personality. However, Enna's instincts tells her something is wrong. She sees Serena disappear into the private corridor, followed by the groom a few minutes later. Intending to surprise her or simply make sure Serena isn’t nervous, Enna steps away from the crowd. She walks down the hallway, carpeted in thick red velvet. The sound of the piano in the hall begins fade, replaces by an eerie silence. Until she arrives in front of mahogany door numbered 302 who slightly ajar. That voice. Enna freeze. The moans and intimate whispers she heard weren't coming from a couple celebrating their happiness, but from the most disgusting betrayal. Through the c***k in the door, Enna sees it. Her trusted friend, Serena, is in the embrace of her own husband-to-be. They are laughing, planning how they will steal the family fortune after the formal wedding. Enna's world seems to slow down. The coldness in her heart turns into a burning fire. Enna doesn't wait. She doesn't cry. With one rough kick, she flings the door wide open and turns toward the main hall. She doesn't need a confrontation behind closed doors; she wants the world to know who they are. "Stop the music!" Enna's voice cuts through the hall. The piano player stopped. Hundreds of pairs of eyes stars at a strange-looking woman standing in the middle of the dance floor, her face fills pure hatred "You all come to celebrate love?" Enna laughed sarcastically, a laugh that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. "You all come to celebrate a deception." Enna pointed to the corridor door where Serena and the man had just emerged, their faces pale. In front of the big family, Enna reveals every word, every evil plan she had overheard in the private room. The silence that followed her explanation is heavier than a bomb exploding. "Enna! Shut up!" the groom-to-be, James, goes forward. He gripps Enna's arm so harshly that his nails turnes white. "You're just jealous because you have nothing! Security! Drag this crazy woman out!" Slappp!!!! The slap echoes throughout the hall. Enna's hands trembled with anger. "Don't ever touch me with your filthy hands." Chaos erupted. The officials' wives screamed, and the men begisn whispering. Five large security guards begisn running toward her. Enna knows she is outnumbered. Without thinking, she turns and run. Enna run through the hotel kitchen, up the emergency stairs, and keeps on running until she reaches the quiet hallway of the executive floor. Her breath is ragged, her chest congested as if the oxygen around her is running low. Craaaaaaaack. One of her heels broke. With a low curse, she puts off both heels and carried them. Her black dress ripped at the thigh from her excessive movement. She looks ragged, sweat beading on her forehead, but her eyes sharp. At the end of the dim hallway, she sees a tall shadow. Panicked by the sound of security footsteps behind her, Enna push her speedity and CRAAAACK! Enna crashes into something as hard as a steel wall. Her body is thrown back slightly, but the man in front of her standing still, unmoved. The crystal glass of 1945 red wine in the man's hand shatters on the floor. The thick red liquid watery into his dark blue coat, which is perfectly tailored to the curves of his athletic body. Furthermore, the leather folder containing important documents he is holding falls to the floor, submerged in the pool of wine. The man slowly sees his gaze to his ruined coats, then slowly raise his face. His face looks like a perfect, but cool. His dark eyes stars at Enna with an intensity that could make a person fall to the ground in fear. That is David Johnson. "You..." David's voice is low, heavy, and filled with undeniable authority. Enna, still in survival mode and with emotions, doesnt't realize who she is crached. She looks up and met David's eyes with courage. "Don't stand in the middle of the road! You have eyes, right? Move aside!" David freeze. In the world of international business, his name is fear. People will give way before he even take a step. And now, a woman with untidy hair and rag clothes has just snap at him. "You destroyed documents worth more than the rest of your life, Miss," David said coldly. "I don't care! My life is in danger and you're just fussing over a piece of paper?" Enna tries to push David's shoulder, but he grabs her wrist. His grip is like iron handcuffs. . "Let go!" Just then, the security guards appeared. They stops abruptly, their faces turning pale when they sees who is facing Enna. "S-Sir David... Please forgive us!" the security commander bows almost ninety degrees. "This woman is causing a commotion downstairs, insulting the hotel owner's family. We will immediately take her to the police." Enna stars at David, a flash of desperation in her eyes. She hopes that this man, at least because he seems polite will let her go. David stars at Enna for a few seconds. He sees courage, anger, and hurt in her eyes. A faint, almost invisible appeared at the corner of his lips. "Let her go," David ordered. Enna breathed a sigh of relief. Thank God, she think.. "Don't hand him over to the police," David continued, his voice now sounding more dangerous. "Let him go now. Because I'm going to demands him personally for the losses of my company . I don't want the police ruining my happiness." . Enna freeze. David looses her her hand as if she were a piece of trash he had just thrown away. "Go. Enjoy your last night in peace." ." The next day Enna stands in front of the bathroom mirror of the most prestigious skyscraper in downtown: VN Company. She is wearing the neatest white shirt she owned. She has to get this job. After last night's incident, she is fired from her previous job due to pressure from James' family. She needed money to pay the rent and starts a new life. "Number 045, Enna Vale. Please come in," a staff member calls out with a awkward expression. Enna take a deep breath. She manages herself, putting on her trademark "cold" face to mask her nervousness. She walks through the large double doors made of teak wood. The room is spacious, with glass walls offering views of the entire city from the 50th floor. In the center of the room, an oversized chair faced the door. "Good morning, I'm Enna Vale, applicant for the position of financial secretary," Enna said firmly. The chair turned slowly. Enna's heart as if down to her stomach. There, dressed in a new black suit, sit the man from last night. David Johnson. He is twirling a gold pen in his long fingers. David isn't surprised. He glances at Enna's application form on the table, then looked directly into her wide eyes. "in fact the world is very narrow" David said in a lazy, intimidating tone. "So... that woman who ruined the show and doesn't know the rules of the road , now is coming here to ask me for money?" David closed the file with a soft thud. "Explain to me, Miss Vale. Why should I hire someone who can't even tell the difference between a street and a person?" David closed the file with a soft thud. "Explain to me, Miss Vale. Why should I hire someone who can't even tell the difference between a street and a person?" Enna grasps her hands beside her body. The real battle had just begun.
