22 Ransom –––––––– I left and made my way through the brush to the motorcycle, which was still safely hidden. When I returned to Hailey, I saw her standing by the side of the road. She was staring down at the skid marks left from Jordan’s car, a haunted look on her face. We hadn’t talked about what he’d done to her, or the words spoken between them yesterday.
